Hello

I`m looking for decent rain cover or waterproof cover for dslr + lens.

Can anybody suggest any good ones?

Regards

Well there's these on Fleabay or moving up a bit these or at the cheaper end of the market, these.

surely a huge freezer bag or dustbin bag will do the job?

Someone posted this idea a while ago so it's not mine but it's a bloody good wee tip.

Pop down to your local army surplus store or charity shop, find some camo waterproof leggings or jacket preferably with elasticated or velcro ends and cut to size of your camera and lens.

Tommy.

I've tried pretty much everything to keep my comeras dry and safe over the years. Plastic bags etc. just always seemd to let water through somewhere so in the end, I invested in a one of the KATA waterproof covers. I'm outside in all weathers and while it was quite expensive at £45, I wouldn't be without it now. Well worth the money.

I've recently picked up an Optech Rainsleeve (you get 2 in a pack for £6), although it is mainly for an upcoming holiday to Cuba for use on the beach etc to stop sand getting into my camera/lens.

It fits my 40D with grip attached, and the bit for the lens is pretty big (my largest lens is a Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 and there is plenty of excess plastic).

Something like this?

I got 2 x Optechs from ebay for £6 :)

You could try a shower cap. They come free with every hotel room.

haha, glad to see someone else uses a shower cap!

hotel shower cap over your body, and if you *really* need one, a sandwich bag taped (you DO have a roll of insulation tape in your bag, right?) from the base to the lens hood, on the top/ side does the job nicely...

I don't stress too much personally, s'what weather sealed bodies and insurance are for - and if it's weeing it down that hard, _I_ won't want to be taking photos there, let alone my camera :P

a chap on here was doing them a while ago, £10 really good :)
Does anyone remember who he was ?
Have had a few times were I've been able to carry on when its starts raining

Scoff I think. I've got one and it's great. Might need a bigger one soon though, and ideally in realtree. The ones on wildlife watching supplies look great, if not a little expensive.

hmmmmm either

1) spend £100 plus on a kata etc

2) Buy a cheapo water proof pair of trousers and cut one leg off

3) Get a big plastic bag and elastic band

I've done the third option and i will shortly be trying the 2nd, upto you really

Can highly recommend these guy's.

Prices start at £12 upwards. I use mine last year at Brands hatch for the Historic Master series and it poured down all day, I got wet, camera and lens stay dry as a bone.

I've used rain covers from Fotosharp for several years, and they've worked great! There are several sizes and colors, they are easy to use, and durable. I use their white and universal camouflage covers.
