Good morning all.

Im looking to make up a nice watermark for my images but at the moment i am just using the text watermark function on Lightroom 3. What is the best way to desgin one and what programme? Im really struggling to get anything nice with just using the text, either having text styles im not a fan of etc.

Do you lot use photoshop to design and image or what do you use.

have you just copied that off wikipedia haha.
 
I used inkscape (free open source vector graphics program like Adobe illustrator) to make a basic logo. Nothing overly fancy as I am no designer but looks okay IMO. I then apply it using Lightroom as a graphic watermark at about 50% opacity.

I used inkscape as it means I can just export it as small or as big as I want and still get decent quality. You could use photoshop or GIMP but then if you need a bigger version than you did you're kind of stuffed.

I also make a small square logo which I use on my face book page which was more of a learning exercise which I actually prefer. Unfortunately it doesn't work very well as a watermark.

great thanks for the help i shall give inkscape a go later hopefully it will be better than the one im using now.
