Im wanting to add a watermark to my images. Make them look a little more professional

Please could I have your opinions... Good and bad please!!

IMHO it's an improvement. All you would need to do is change the font colour to white if you needed to apply the watermark to a dark area of any photo

I would avoid script style fonts and go for something bolder - easier to read. Consider a stroke around it in a lighter colour also to help it stand out on a wider variety of backgrounds.

If the purpose of the photo is to prevent someone "stealing it" for facebook etc, then what you currently have is a waste of time, as that could "disappear" in less than 15 seconds with CS6.

Whilst more intrusive, if you want something to "protect" the online images, then look at what some of the wedding togs do, specifically (but not limited to) Hacker & Ryanyboy - far too much hassle to attempt to remove.

Saying that, seen plenty of images on peoples personal facebook pages with xyz.photography stamped all over them.

At the end of the day, if you don't want it nicked, don't put it online.

I very rarely (almost never) bother with watermarks because the people on fb etc that would steal the image generally wouldn't care about it.

It's enough to just put up a small res file so if people so steal it they can't do much with it and if I see someone has stolen my image I politely ask them to remove it.

Watermarks, whilst having their use, are an intrusion on the image.

If you we're making a watermark though I'd suggest you emboss the layer and then make the blend mode "soft light".

That will give it the transparent look which is much more professional.
