I know this topic has been covered but I can’t find the posts that respond to my query.

Question:
What washing sequence (without wash aid) of Fiber prints uses the absolute bare minimum amount of water.?

No I’m not a tight ass , we have a water problem locally!!
 
I suspect that it's the LF zero to hero thread. Washing was mentioned there.

I'd guess (off the top of my head) that the original method I was taught is the most water efficient. Changes of water at five minute intervals, total washing time 30 mins (6 changes) for double weight, 45 mins for triple weight (which I doubt is still made). There is certainly material in the thread I mentioned on the advantages of sea water, although probably best to avoid the sewage hot spots...
 
Post 2225, about p67. But this is film specific. The problem with fibre prints is that it's harder to get the chemicals out of paper than out of plastic film base. The best advice for shorter washes are to get the prints out of chemicals and into water ASAP.

The 5 min interval changes mentioned by Stephen are pretty much what I do anyway although usually 9 changes ….. I’m sure that ilford MGIV paper isn’t triple weight so I can cut back a tad there .

As it is I’m in the darkroom atm , just cos I need a fixer kick lol

The past few weeks have seen the local river levels diminish to what is the norm in the height of summer when its 30-40 celcius!

We’ve received a request today from the local authority asking to be increasingly stringent with water to avoid more severe controls being imposed like what are already in place in Sospel ( neighbouring valley.)

Ironically rain was forecast today and for the next few days but nothing more than a few drops have been seen here and the river flow hasn’t increased so it looks like a similar story further upstream.

Not a good sign as this winter has been exceptionally dry.

Increasingly there are the two extremes of dryness and severe flooding, the latter of course destroyed this and many other villages in the valley in Oct 2021

We’re all fully aware of the probable causes but that’s a debate for elsewhere on the forum;)

I’ve yet to read thoroughly the second part( I skipped through it ), but the first part offers some very interesting facts that give food for thought.

Perhaps a wash aid will be worthwhile adding to my next order of chemicals.
