I plan to make a new camera bag over the next few weeks. The bag making side is not a big deal for me, I have made dozens over the last few years.

It will be a slightly wider version of the bag in the picture, probably with a removalable top flap, so when in use I can just put my hand straight into it and grab the camera.
I will get an insert from Amazon or Ebay and probably make the bag just a little wider, so a water bottle can be slipped in as well. There will be zipped and slip pockets on it as well.

Where I am going to try and be clever is with the strap, I bought some Optech bits from here yesterday and I am going to try and incorporate the sling strap, as the bag strap a well. Maybe even so the camera can sit in the bag and still be attached to the slider, we shall see if that works of not as we go along.

super idea just had a flick through and the 185 series ones look like your getting there .at the moment theres a few types of needs wildlife togs who like there gear assembled ready for action , those that want to carry extras lenses ,batteries etc with them .. that can be split into DSLR users BIG BAGS and mirrorless users medium bags .
then theres bags for landscape togs , body and variety of lenses ..

I use a Singer 4411 Heavy Duty, leather needles and nylon bonded thread

That’s the crux of it really . Your not going to compete with made in China stuff , so you have to better there quality . So what sort of prices are you looking at on average ..

These were great and hardy ever broke down. They stopped making them years ago and sold the plant off to China (which weren't as good).
You probably know this, but make sure anything you get is single phase.

Front panel completed, it will be finished to size and matched to all the other panels when they are done. The white lines are just chalk and will rub off.

I'd been looking and asking people for ages. I'd imagine if you wanted to do this for others you'd get a few orders.

Looks like a good idea! I had a filter pouch made specifically to my design a few years ago and it's still going strong.

Just one suggestion......maybe not a good idea to create storage space for a water bottle inside the bag......... accidents do happen.

A quick update on the bag.

Main body mainly finished. Just need to tidy up a few bits ( shorten and finish off the straps on the base etc ) and make the flap.

Fits the pre made Amazon insert just right.

It has two zip pockets, front and rear, a slip pocket on the front, slip pockets on each end.

@jerry12953 Water bottle pockets added to the outside.

I will explain the double loops on the side when it is finished completly, either a cunning plan or a waste of time, we shall see.

Pretty much there now, need to adjust the length of the flap at the rear and put press studs on it so that the flap is removable.
There is a slip pocket on the front of the flap as well.
Tidy up the length of a few of the straps and it is good to go.
It also has a Fidlock magnetic buckle to hold the flap shut.
Will give it a test run this Sunday at an event I am going to and get a few pictures of it on as well.

So first outing went ok. I had planned to run a narrower piece of webbing from the small D ring and attach it to the main strap.
But really it just got in the way, so I just added a larger D ring to the strap and attached an Optech clip to it.
I had the camera hanging on the strap quite a bit and it did not pull the bag around. I can also just drop the camera into the bag if I want to for a bit without removing it.
