weekly Wasn`t enjoying it anymore *52* 2012 ... Given Up

Hi, your control of lighting and exposure is superb - I especially liked the set up for direction and on the sculpture. Loved the selective depth of field for the industry - a man after my own heart. You're obviously thinking out of the box with your themes (root beer - tee hee). Cheers Mandy

Industry - Good use of DoF

Root - I really like this. Great composition and lighting

Handmade - The use of up-lighting has worked well here

Handmade. Great lighting gives it a voodo sort of feel. I'd be a bit scared to have that in my house. You've caught the mood well.

OOooo he looks a creepy b****r... nice lighting that

Thank you all :D

I've already commented on Flickr, but wanted to stop by your thread too... So, again; great work.

Oh, and I wouldn't know how to set something like this up either!

Hiya Paul,

Sorry I have not been past for a while .... been a bit pre-occupied with all sorts of things.

However, I have had a quick squizz at your progress with the 52 and must say I am well impressed. Especially Week 2 .... that is just such an ACE shot.

I am going to be a bit of a flutterby the next few weeks (therapy and all), but I will pop past when I can to offer encouragement.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi Paul, Love the shots so far. "Handmade" is perfect in composition and lighting. As for "Money" well thought out and executed. Really strong work mate.

Nice shot Paulie, noticed this on flickr

"Simple" and Fantastic :-)

Thanks guys

Setting up was pretty easy, although a bit hit and miss.... Basically, camera propped on kitchen table, held in one hand, spin coin with other hand .... look at result, swear a lot, and try again
I used flash, but set the camera to manual, and slow shutter speed, to get some motion blur, as normal flash, just froze the coin.

I think that's absolutely wonderful! I get how you shot it, but what PP did you do?

Lovin those mini eggs.

Nice white BG's too.

Cheers matey

Thanks :D

Post, was (if I can remember everything), pretty full on ... Usual shadows & highlites, contrast boost, then levels, convert to mono, then curves (with dropper), then levels again, then selective colour, and push black a tad, as with neturals, and whiten the whites  It took a while, mainly because the shot was dark, and the BG pants....

Hi Paulie

Great idea for money , I have enough trouble taking shots holding the camera with both hands so well done you for managing this

 Thanks Lynne ...

Handmade...blooming evil looking thing. Lighting works well, just the small over exposed bit distracts a bit.

Money, very well done there. Nice and close, with details in the coin.

Cheers.

Great shot!

I would be interested to hear the audio out takes for this kinda shot! :)

Great work.

 The air did get a tad Blue

That's what I do with stationary objects :bang: :D

well done - good image, composition and lighting

I take my hat off to you, well done

Thanks guys

Figured I`d take the easy route, this week

Lottery Ticket ... Hope I win :D

Week 10: Win by Paulie W, on Flickr

Money- I really like the spinning coin, the detail on it is excellent. I love the simple mono too.

Just curious, is all the shadow around the coin natural or have you tweaked it? It's just there seems a slightly dodgy edge in front of the coin, just past the dark shadow, if that makes sense?

Win - I guess you had to get in quick with this one. Another simple clean shot:thumbs: I hope you win.

The shadow is, as is ... I know it looks false, and it bugged the arse outa me for ages. I think it might be due to the hard contrast processing, but not manipulated at all (I`m not good enough at photochop for that kind of work).

Thanks for the "Win" So do I :D

Win is a cracker. Very daring to place it so close to the side. Great clean background.

Now just sit back and chuckle at us mere mortals ;)

Blimey you're quick! For me, good PoV and the pink works really well against the clean white background.

Nice WIN shot Paulie like the PoV,
i had better get a move on.

Haha and so you should ;)

Clean and crisp love the simplicity of it and the framing.

Thanks guys ... I grab a Lucky Dip, every once in a while, and as it happens, got one on Friday  Maybe it`s an omen ...... Ooooh D4 :D

Got lucky with this, as I was taking the shots anyway .... Poppen on here to check what the theme was and, voila

Slinky reflected, off the top of my shiny fridge :D
