weekly Wasn`t enjoying it anymore *52* 2012 ... Given Up

Hi Paulie another 1 i've missed,

Direction - different take on the compass and i like the angle

Fear - your a brave man, don't think i could have laid down on someones grave, i like the angle and keep going back to have another look to see if i've missed something.

Sigh - think we've all been there at some time, its simple clean and sharp

Sweet - i love mini eggs as well, and its been already said the composition and lighting is spot on

Great Shot. Nice colours, great lighting and the off centre composition wins it for me.

Thank you both

Hi,
Good work. I particularly like Sigh and Sweet. Beautifully lit - a problem that I am yet to overcome. Also they relate very well to the themes. I am trying to consider each post that I see as if the photo was in a gallery with the single theme word underneath and then how I would react to that. Both of these work beautifully.

Just managed Secure ......
Pretty naf attempt on the theme imo, but hey ...

Secure Timing

Week 5: Secure by Paulie W, on Flickr

Hi, there, missed you last 3

Sigh....superb, been there as I'm sure we all have. Well composed, nice and sharp. Not sure if it's a tad warm

Sweet, yeah me too :D Looks a bit over exposed on my laptop and for such a symmetrical photograph, I'd like it central.

Secure, as above, except I'm contradicting myself by saying the composition works well here. Nice white BG and sharp. The shadow add dimension as well.

Cheers.

Sweet - Definitely like this one. Good use of pastel colours against the white

Secure - Nice lighting. Not always easy for subjects like this.

Secure really works well as a shot due to the space you've given the watch on the Left hand side, as well as great lighting, but loke Alan, I'm not sure how it relates to secure?

Hi Paulie

catch up time for me

Sigh....yup , always happens to me

Sweet.......oh yes...love it....wonderful pastel colors , BG a little bright but that's probably my screen & quite like the offset....I think I do anyway....keep wondering about it being central...nope...offset works well

Secure ...sharp , like the shadow....second hand dead central......think I'd prefer it on the left though

Hi Paulie,

For some reason I missed your thread on the forum and came across your work on flickr! What can I say? I really like them. I'm not that experienced but will try to put in words what I like and why.

For the compass, sweets and watch it's the lighting and the simplicity of the composition, they are just so nicely photographed and they're uncomplicated. I notice that in the compass shot, you've used a black background to shoot a black object. I'd never have thought of that but sure does make the phone blend into obscurity and emphasise the compass. Sigh, think it's the grain in the wood that appeals, I like the lines. Your fear shot is a very different from the others, it's a good idea but it's kind of creepy...I guess that's what you were going for....dark and scary! The perspective is a bit unnerving, can't make up my mind if I love it or hate it! Everytime I look at it.....I change my mind! lol But there is something compelling about it and I'm drawn back to it.

Look forward to seeing more of your work.

Carol

Hi
Secure - I don't get the relation to the theme but I am envious of such a good shot. I like the composition, the background, the focus and the colour rendition.

Crisp & clear. I like these.

Thanks guys ....

As some have asked .... Secure, was kinda looking at the stopwatch thing, especially with the olympics coming up. Hence secure timing (correct timing) ... It was also pretty last minute larry too :D

Week 6

The Paper Industry .....
I wanted to get something not, the norm  and came up with this ...

Week 6: Indusrty by Paulie W, on Flickr

Hi Paulie, sorry I'm slowly (VERY slowly) getting round to missed threads!

Your engaged sign made me chuckle!

Mini eggs, yum, but the background looks a tad too bright for them?

I love secure and root, both a perfect balance of the dark subject against the white background. How do you achieve the high key look?

Industry is unusual but I like it. Should there be a greater DOF? I don't know:thinking:

I really like the little bubbles inside, but would be tempted to clone out that little blue bit on the top right and maybe put a glass with ice beside it or a bottle opener just to add something a bit more to the shot, what are you using as a background if you don't mind me asking - it is really nice and clear - something I feel I struggle greatly with, any tips much appreciated!

Hi, there. 2 quite daring photographs here. Industry, the link is there....kind of...but for me it's the really shallow DOF that I do like.

Root beer, again pushing it right up to the right hand side works really well for me. Just the small area a of blue I'd rather wasn't there.

In sum, 2 crackers.

Well thats Root certainly covered it that a reflection of a tv on the bottle

Just commented in Flickr mate, really like this shot :)

Industry - a nice take on the theme, i would of liked to see a slightly deeper dof, but still a cracking shot

Root - What else can I say... love that one, a great image indeed

:agree:
I like this one alot. Well done,

Carol

cracking pic that. Nice and simple, Great work!

Really nice clean image :-)

Spot on theme of course, not least because I have the same object for my photo.

However, I have a different idea for the photo. It will be interesting to compare once I take it tonight (hopefully)

Wow, thanks guys

I`m not too sure as to what the blue bit on the bottle is ... reflection of some sort, but the TV was off ...

Shot in my diy lightbox, with "pre" metering ... light either side and one on top ... fiddle in PP so whiten those whites :D Feel free to drop me a pm if you want (and I can remember) more details

Industry is a great shot, really one of those that makes you think about what it is.

I had thought of root beer, decided not to bother. Glad I didnt as yours is a great shot.

Hi Paulie

Fab shot for Root...love that you can see the bubbles in the bottle at the top....super lighting ( again !)...simple , effective ...

Industry....hmmmm.... not so sure... like the image but the DOF makes my eyes go funny :D

Hi Paulie,

I like your industry. The dof is good for me and makes your shot stand out.
Your root is worthy of cracking open a bottle; but I guess you've done that already :)

Oi !! :-P that might indeed be my very plan ;-)

Oh BTW I drank one if these at Christmas not something I would drink again (well after the bottle in chilling in the fridge).

Week 8: Handmade by Paulie W, on Flickr

About time I caught up with your thread.

Industry- I love your use of DOF in this and yea I think it does cover industry!

Root - The lighting on this is great, a lovely clean shot with good composition!

Handmade - that was quick!! Again I like the lighting it shows detail but also keeps it "moody"!

Well done, I look forward to seeing your future shots!:)
