You really need to treat with an enzyme cleaner like "Urine-Off" before washing.
Use soap flakes if you're worried about the water proofing

One of my neighbours cats puked on my rucksac once (fortunately just a cheap standard ruck rather than a camera bag) and it stunk even after being washed - I chucked it in the end
