Yes
I don't know what it's been like where you are but it's been pretty wet here in my part of Wales.
I have never done so many wedding in the wet as I have this year, I have gone all year before and not done as many "wet's" as I have this July and not just showers either, really heavy nasty stuff. I have even had to tackle flood water just to get to one place.
Todays the first of August, I have a wedding and .... it's raining again.
Oh well flippers on standby, and where are those lead armbands my mate gave me....

I agree. It's been one of the worst. As I type its pouring outside and by the looks of the low level clouds it's here to stay.

Good luck with your wedding today.

On the BBC news last night they said Bristol (I think it was) had the wettest July since 1888!!!

Not sure whether its been the wettest, we have certainly had wet summers for last couple of years, what has been different this year, or at least what has felt different is the way it has rained. [yes, I know, same as always, downwards, in wet drips :p ] For the last few years the wet summer days have been like the wet autumn/winter ones, you wake up, its cloudy, its rains consistently all day, you go to bed, and hope its brighter tomorrow.

This year its been ridiculous, so many days have been scorching hot sunshine, interspersed with almighty, heaven bursting rain 'showers', often accompanied by full blown thunder storm, and even hail on a few occasions. Then half an hour later, back to blast furness sun and humidity similar to that found in your average rain forest :bonk: :bang:

Good luck with todays wedding mate, hope it dries up for you

I haven't managed a landscape shot in 6 weeks

With the exceptation of a couple of weeks in June the weather around here has been pretty poor for landscape shots since March...it's not only the rain but the lighting has been completely flat, hardly a decent sunset - roll on autumn/winter when it's back to the decent weather

Oh I feel for you. Got another wet one myself today. Disgusting weather.

I was going to say the summer has been better than usual up this way - still pis....... pretty wet though

Well here in Cheshire it's been chucking it down on and off all month. I'm sure they said back in June that we'd be in for a scorcher in July - I assumed they meant July of this year. I think it's time Michael Fish was brought back out of retirement. Weather forecasting has never been very accurate since he left. :D

We had a blistering...two weeks. But July has been a real wash out. We've had some sun pocking through at times, but it ain't been blistering, I can tell you!

It's been very wet here in North Devon too, however, I'd guess not as bad as last year. We have a stream that runs past the cottage and last year it burst it's banks several times and remained high for weeks. It hasn't come close to the top this year, have I just tempted fate?

This ones a doddle for me, I have a nice big theatre for the group shots if I want it (and it's looking like I will) hope your goes ok. Wayne

I don't think its been the wettest ever, by a long way, Wayne.

But according to Derek (you know ..... Derek...) it was wetter than 2007 in Wales.

There's been a few good days or part days but they've been unpredictable. It's been impossible to plan any trips. Mind you, in my opinion, July is one of the worst months in the year for landscapes.

Maybe there's a niche market for Gore-tex wedding dresses and suits...

I don't think it was wetter than 2007 here, as we haven't flooded this year (yet/thankfully)

There's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes!

The idiot who wrote that wants shooting:bang::bang::bang:

Well it did rain on st swithans day so the saying goes if it does rain then it will rain for 40 days and nights . Spooky

I don't think it's as bad as it was in 2007 but my god, I think we've only had about four sunny days in July. There's a big festival on in Notts this weekend and I was supposed to be popping along to do some candids, but I'm still sat here, watching the rain outside......

I'm really annoyed at the moment because there's loads of garden furniture in the sales at heavily discounted prices and my husband won't let me buy any more......

it's not the wettest July in the UK.

That record belongs to the year 1988, when 145.3mm of rain fell. And remember the floods of 2007? Two years ago, England and Wales suffered their wettest July on record with a rainfall of 136mm.

While rain has been coming down by the bucket-load, sunshine has been hard to come by.

The average amount of monthly sunshine for July is 174.3 hours and this year to date (27 July) we've had 149.5 hours. The sunniest July was back in 1955 with 256 hours.

July was horrendous up here last year. The ground never dried out,it was stagnant and full of virus, the pheasants were dying by the bucketload. The cold winter killed a lot of the germs, but we are having problems again now.

I've been planning a camping trip to the Lake District before going back to uni in sept, to get some landscape and star shots.. wanted to go the first wkend of july - bad weather..2nd bad weather..3rd bad weather and this wkend also temperamental. It's like someone doesn't want me to go!

If you can wait for a few days, I will be able to show you a chart showing exactly who's had the most rain and who's had the least rain across the UK in July.
This is June's data. The browner it is, the drier it is. Like for instance, Kent had only 20% of the average rainfall expected for June, while on the other hand, it seems that the Birmingham area had 200% of the average rainfall (twice as much than the norm).

Even the forcasters have admitted it, but never mind they say it is going to be a mild winter. They could'nt get the summer right so how can they forcast that far ahead.

Our July was, I think, the warmest on record. Average daily temperatures of 22C and half as much rain as usual. In our city we had the hottest day ever recorded (a couple of days ago) at 38C. Our forests are literally tinder dry and are burning with a vengeance. If you're curious you could go to cbc.ca and find out a bit more about it. My sister and her husband live in the West Kelowna area and have just been evacuated because of forest fire danger. We'd gladly take a few days/weeks of your rain to help put the fires out.

its not the rain that bothers me, its just the total unpredictability of it. for the first time we are seriously considering going and living in a country with decent weather.

we decided to camp every other weekend this year instead of going abroad :(....bad decision. 5 trips = 5 soakings. what has been a killer for me this summer is the wind. it has not stopped blowing all summer. I have had only one decent day for doing macro bug stuff :bang:

I think I heard that the wettest July ever in UK was somewhere absolutely ages ago with 239 mm!

Sorry about the lack of exactitude. Perhaps Ian DC can shed some more light on this?

Whiteflyer had already answered that question for you. :D Just scroll a little back up this thread and you'll see his post.:naughty:
Saved me the effort in trawling through google and my books. :D
