On the way to work today i sat in a table seat by the window (inside seat), about 1 stop from where i due to get off a lady sat in the opposite side on the aisle seat. When the train due to arrive at my stop i got up and side stepped out and then almost tripped over by something, looked down and saw her feet sticking across. Before I even stod up properly in the aisle I heard her say beneath her voice "An apology would be nice"

WHAT? I didn't say anything and didn't even look at her and walked to the door. Should I apologise, I don't think i should, :cuckoo:. Her feet were clearly stretching across to my side of the table.

No you shouldn't apologise!!!! Stupid mare!

Would it make any difference if she was like 20/25 Stone? Would being obese be an excuse?

No, Santa's quite a big chap but he's as jolly as they come

I don't think you were wrong, if it had been me I would have answered "You're right and I'm waiting..."

No mate. Im 22 stone (ex weight lifter though i do enjoy a good pie ) and suffer with arthrits in one leg badly but if someone stands up, i automatically move, to let them past. Even though it can be uncomfortable and painful good manners and politeness cost nothing.Though i might have said sorry after id wrapped the laptop around her ear after stumbling a pure accident of course.

i hate people like that! they think the world revolves around them. they think everyone else should bend over backwards for them.

If that was me and i accidently tripped someone up i would appolagise without hesitation, especially knowing i was in the wrong for strecthing out in the first place!

Clearly you were completely in the wrong.

Not only should you have apologised for nearly tripping over her feet you should have thrown in a more general apology for being on her train and breathing her air.

Indeed, those of us who were taught manners properly would also have considered apologies for having been born in the first place, the credit crunch and the apalling weather we have had this year.

In my experience it is always older people who expect younger people to apologise even when it was the older person in the wrong. Winds me up. You were right she was wrong.

It's like a big roundabout we have here. Every exit has two lanes from each junction that leads to every exit, as well as lanes leading to other junctions, if that makes sense. People on the outside lane that leads to their particular exit are always cutting into the inside lane as they take the junction, but when I'm on the inside lane taking the correct path, they always beep at me for cutting "in..." Yet they're trying to cut me up! Go figure!

You should have said "Yes it would" :D

:agree:

I bet she was the type of woman that expects you to move out of her way when walking down the street, even more so if she was on her phone, something I NEVER do, I just walk right into them.

I once had a women look daggers at me and beep me because I dared to be driving straight at her and I had to swerve to miss her. She had decided to drive on the wrong side of a central reservation as she had come round a bend. Even though the road is plainly laid out.:cuckoo:

2 stupid women crossed the road in front of me at a junction the other night, even though I was heading straight for them at 10 mph, then stopped in the middle of the road and mouthed the words 'slow down' then once they'd crossed (leaving my car in the way of oncoming traffic, they started shaking their heads and glaring at me, even though they'd obviously deliberately missed the Green Cross Code lessons where it says check both ways before crossing and keep checking as you walk across - I wound down the window and told them to flock off!! :D

Should have said sorry........................ then offered to buy her another pie. :)

You should have grabbed her by her fat throat and rammed her big fat stinking head through the window, only joking, just felt like letting off some steam. you are right in my opinion.

dont let it bother you raymond, silly bint shouldnt have her flaming feet in the way!

People are weird. I find it very difficult to understand how she could possibly have thought she was owed an apology in that situation.

Going with the unanimous opinion here that she was in the wrong. Don't let it bother you, some people are just bitter at life. She was obviously one of them.
