Hi Guys,

I am fairly new to the area still and have found a few places. But where are the 'must shoots'? I dont mind how over done they are or cliched!

Also suggestions for night time pictures would be great. I haven't found too much around the area tbh.

Regards

The obvious one is Warwick Castle. Less obvious is Kenilworth Castle. You could also try Chesterton windmill. Warwickshire is a fairly flat county but has some hills like Burton dassett country park for example.
Going from South Warwickshire to the north side, you could pass through Coventry with the cathedrals, old architecture in Spon Street and some of the new stuff in the city centre. Plus of course the motor museum.

All depends what you are into really.

There is also Birmingham if you like urban photography. Kenilworth is pretty good. But to be honest I mainly focused on portraits, macro, etc. I have only felt the need for 24mm wider when I moved to Bristol. Btw I am getting Tokina 12-24mm tomorrow.

I would avoid Burton Dassett at night ;)

One thing I've been meaning to photograph in Warwickshire are the kingfishers at Brandon. There's also Draycote water and miles of canal which usually show up something worth shooting.

I am getting more into my urban shooting now. I want to get out and about doing some nighttime stuff but the risk involved about going round areas of Birmingham etc at night are a tad high

Are there any abandoned buildings around the area?

Stratford-upon-avon is a good place for a variety of pictures. Plus Leamington Spa for architecture.

Brindley Place in Birmingham is a good place to get some nice night shots. Opportunity to get some nice lights reflecting in the water front, plus the buildings are nicely lit up.

Taken from the Brindley Place website:

"Brindleyplace is a private estate and therefore any photography, filming or promotions do require permission and charges do exist for commercial photography."

So I assume if I stand outside I can take pictures of the reflections on the water? But cant go inside and take pictures?

:|Sorry was not aware of that. It's strange as I have seen a number of people up there taking pictures etc, with tripods as well.

Sorry slightly of topic.

I was in the hide at Brandon the other day, a Tog was sitting at the end of the hide waiting for said kingfisher to land, I think he said he had been waiting for a couple of hours. As I have lots of pics of kingfishers I wasn't going to take any more, so sat away from him, anyway a short time later they appear, just as an oap comes in the hide and stands behind this tog, he starts to shoot a few off and then looks round to see her with her compact, he says to her very nicely please make sure the flash is turned off on the camera, he turns back to take a few more when the flash goes off,so did kingfisher:bang::bang: he wasn't a happy chap.:nono: I felt so sorry for him.
