yeah not impressed to be honest
just had a call from one of the models to say that she cant attend tonight although she was booked, so two models have dropped now, managed to replace another one with Emma but struggling to get a second on on board at short notice.
What do you want to do?
Sorry, but this is what often happens with amateur models, or even worse, wannabe models. Personally I only ever book experienced models who have a professional attitude and who are earning enough to make it worth their while.
And especially when there are several people sharing the cost - an extra say £50 split between 6 only amounts to £8 odd each and pretty much guarantees reliability and a degree of ability too.
I came across a similar problem last year with a model booked by someone else for lighting demos. The model did turn up, but she turned up late, had entirely the wrong makeup and had absolutely no idea how to model, so the money saved was really a false economy.
Yeah i agree, but once again i was trying to keep the cost low for everyone, i think i may have to rethink the way this will be done and if need be raise the price, but without guidance its hard to bump up the price.
Earning enough to make it worth their while is a difficult thing to pin down though, some people would jump at the chance of earning £50, others wouldn't think twice about letting someone down for £150. Only way to know for sure really is to get personal recommendations or go through an agency that will at least provide substitutes - the latter would bump the price up immensely I imagine.
Do you want to cancel? I will need to inform the model?
Yeah I have used models that i have been arranging to work with on an individual basis, so this was a good test of their reliability, up to now very disappointed.
I have realised that paying more does get a more reliable/professional model, however this bumps up the costing and would you want to pay more for 3 hours with a model?

As much as I was looking forward to it I think one model will be a bit too restrictive time wise so probably best to postpone. I'll still come if everyone else disagrees though, don't want to let you down too![]()
£25 for 3 hours with a model seems cheap frankly.
Except, that 3 hours is shared with other people so it's not actually 3 hours.
That said, I'd pay more to get reliable ones and perhaps spend a bit more time with them.
Regarding tonight, how about, if there's only one model, you limit the attendees to 3 so the proportions stay the same. Not sure about any others costs you need to cover.
Although im not in it to make profit, i do need to cover some costs and running it with three just isn't worth it to cover my time.
I will have to cancel tonights arranged shoot, everyone will get an email.
sorry
My camera's so new I don't yet have 1 case which can hold it (unless the posty's good to me today!
I'm out of the country next week, but if you want to reschedule any time after that I'm still up for it - not interested in the glamour shoot though.
I'm sorry that you've had to cancel this. Not sure that will go ahead at the moment, i need to rethink the meets to make them more attractive to togs and models so that everyone get something and i dont have to cancel due to no shows.
I'm sorry that you've had to cancel this.
I've been doing this for years and years (OK, mine are training courses not meets but there are similarities).
Learn from your problems and move on - charge more money (enough to cover contingencies and less than full booking), book more reliable models - and no, you don't need to bother with expensive model agencies, you just need to book people who have good feedback or who have been personally recommended to you - and if you want to run your sessions at cost, just hand back any excess to the people who attend on the day.
Tell me to keep my nose out by all means but maybe for future it may be wise when you've a paid attendee that you get the contact numbers so in the event of cancellation you can contact them to ensure that they're aware of cancellation rather than hoping that they pick up an email or PM![]()
