WHY OH WHY!!!!!!!

The new thunderbird figures for the remake of the original series has just been revealed.........WHAT THE [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER] WAS WRONG WITH THE OLD VERSIONS??????

PARKER looks like a PHEAODPHILE !!!!!

LADY PENELOPE looks like a reject from FROZEN!!!!!!!!!

RANT!RANT!RANT! and before all the young uns start going on about being a grumpy old man........ You missed the best time for growing up, when toys were proper educational items, where we had outdoor play and the climbing of trees not walking around with our face stuck in a phone or a tablet........ :D

"Figures" makes me chuckle. They're dolls, let's be honest.
I don't think Parker looks any different. He always looked like a P**** with a drinking problem and a sinus infection.

I was being "politically Correct" for the Young uns......... but then again they weren't dolls....They were Puppets!!!:D

True, but I meant the ones that go on to be available to buy.
“Action figures”…so that the boys don’t need to wear a dress (unless they want to!)

That's what happens when animators decide to kill their old ways with CGI. I can think of many old shows that have been redone (killed) by CGI.

Firman Sam, Postman Pat, The Magic Roundabout to name a few. It won't be long till Charlie Chalk is brought out in CGI probably.

Dolls are only puppets with the strings cut and the mouths glued shut!

Parker doesn't look that much different, although his uniform has been updated. Lady P looks rather less dignified than she used to though.

Proper puppetry must be cheaper than CGI, even these days.

Cheaper, but CGI nowadays is getting really simple, obviously not as simple as puppets though. I've been into 3D modeling for many years now and the software makes animation real easy.

Say you have a character, just a plain person. With the program I use you can select an arm for example, where you want it to move FROM and then select where you want it to move TO and the software does the rest in the time you give it. Obviously that's only for very basic movements but it's a lot easier than people think. It's just a shame so many companies are going down the CGI route in my opinion.

My Lad has the originals all on DVD and they are so watchable even now.....As a little boy he did not take to the new versions of Thomas The Tank Engine, all CG1 favoring the older offering using real models.......It may have been he did not ;like the change element, but I ddnt like it either.

It's beginning to look like a low-budget missed opportunity already. The concept has fantastic mileage if only someone would manage it properly. The movie was a disaster, wasn't it.

Adults love it too. That's why I've a large Thunderbird 2 in my study. F.A.B.

It wasn't Airfix, Bill. I got it about 11 years ago. Around £30 I think. There were a few stickers to put in place on the model and figurines for the seats. There's a Thunderbird 4 in the pod. Money was tight so I missed my chance to get 1 and 3. Ah well, you can't have everything...

You can similar on eBay or Amazon these days.

What's happened to Brain's ears?
BTW, it is going to be a mix of CGI (for the characters) and models for the action.
LINKY
The boys look like they have been watching Power Rangers.

Whats a pheaodphile?

"Anything can happen in the next half hour!"

It says the characters have been revamped. But I never noticed, back then, that they had been 'vamped' in the first place.

I guess that's how things develop. It was OK in the 60s for them to look like the Dave Clark Five.

Well, at least Lady Penelope has cleavage now :)

They look how they look now because the show isn't going to be aimed at anyone old enough to read this forum! Just the same as the original wasn't aimed at the adults of the 1960s.

I know plenty of people who were in their early 20's when Thunderbirds first aired and are still fans, the programe has a huge cult following and I bet there will be a lot of adults who give the never version a watch or two.

Very possibly, but I bet the kids of today is their main motivation. Sells merchandise, apparently...

Pluto wasn't known for his dialogues...
Good grief o_O

:wideyed:
What on?

Never a Thunderbirds fan, but I love Simon Beck's Snow Coyote in the links at the end of the page (y)
I googled for the pictures, I don't read the telegraph or any newspaper and trust you to find something else :P

Just watch Sarah & Duck instead. Best thing on TV.

This would probably apply to anyone over the age of 40 but hands up who has ever attempted to make a model of Thunderbirds 3 (the red rocket) using toilet rolls, corks and straws?

I love the original series, especially the aforementioned "Supermarionation" effect using models. Apparently a good number of half hour episodes had already been put together ready for screening - then suddenly right at the last minute TV bosses wanted each episode to be an hour long, but it was too late to start all over again so they were padded out with lots of extra scenes and that's why the classic episodes appear to be quite close to "real time" in terms of pace.

Well, I've read it on the internet so it must be true. As for the new upcoming series, I'll give it a spin and take it from there.
