WARNING: Lightroom 5.5 update

I count myself lucky then, two installations updated to 5.5 and both working

Tried downloading from Adobe site as per 'fix', now I get a error after install and it tells me to unistall and reinstall (did that twice). Installed 5.4 again as thankfully kept the installer, all good. Think Ill sit this one out as its not just me.

Thanks for the heads up. I got the update available message earlier today, but couldn't be bothered at the time.

I'll hang on to see which way the wind blows.

Cheers.

Youre welcome. Hopefully it saves people some time/annoyance.

As far as I read it is CC update that is failing....................I stuck with the perpetual license version, so OK to install the update or not???

Sorry to hear that, must be really annoying. The perpetual licence version should be ok

I updated via the license version even though I have CC and updated fine and LR works fine

Once you've installed apps via CC then install and use the adobe application manager. It's far, far, far better. CC managing app is a pile of useless bilge and fails to update and generally does nothing but get in the way.

I've not had any issues with adobe application manager at all. Updates work. It tells me when there are updates and what for so I can install or not quite easily.

It seems the people who are updating via the Adobe website are okay, its only CC updater that was effected at the time of my post and a while afterward. Id imagine they would've fixed it last night, in the US it was affecting updates around 7hrs before my post, that would've given them a few hours to fix the CC version which hopefully they have done.

Its the same thing though.

lightroom and photoshop cc updated no problem just updating bridge now

I'll wait until tomorrow at least just to be sure and thanks for the heads up.

No problem, Ill also wait a couple days. Its not as if Ill notice the minor differences anyway.

Other thing to look at is you may now have CC versions and 2014 versions, run the 2014 versions and if they are okay you can uninstall the CC version.

In my control panel I had

PS CC
PS 2014
AI CC
AI 2014
ID CC
ID 2014
+ other Adobe apps
etc etc.

All good here.......... thankfully

Updated to LR 5.5 and it STILL doesn't support tethering with the D4S months after the cameras release. I'm sick of Adobe messing around with unnecessary updates to PS while ignoring the basics that some of us really need... hopeless!

I have been clicking the 'remind me later' button when the update window pops up. I'm just lazy. Reading here think I'll leave it a little longer! there's nothing I need in the update.

Worked ok for me BUT I have stand-alone LR5 and PS6 (not CC versions)

All is well here. No need to go scaring people because you've got a problem.

I never made that post on the adobe forum or all the others on other forums, its not only "my" problem. It was a heads up of a real issue. Which clearly some people appreciated!

Fair point. Just that "WARNING" in huge bold letters will probably give the impression it WILL fail.

Well i did it. It failed. I looked for more cases and found them. All i had to go with was what i knew at the time and the info i had. Better to highlight the issue so people can make an informed decision than for me to keep quiet and others to also experience it.

If the word warning was an issue im sure those interested wouldve read all the info i posted and decided wether to risk the cc manager update or just gone straight to the adobe site as a workaround.

SO it's only an issue with LR integrated with CS6?

My LR5 is stand alone, so updating shouldn't be an issue then?

There seems to be an unrelated problem with Canon's DPP in that it can't read or display JPG's generated by the LR5.5.

Updating directly via adobes site seems to be okay. Id imagine they wouldve sorted the CC manager update issue out shortly after complaints came in but I havent tried it yet.

Is there anything worth the update that adds anything to the pot.?:)

I have just upgraded from LR4. No problems. I love the one-click straightening tool.

Mines ok but thanks for the heads up anyway.

It worked ok for me on a Mac. However I appreciate the heads up, it always pays to not be the very first doing an upgrade :)
