War photographer's legs blown off in Afghanistan

That is terrible news.

This war (like any war) is ruining so many lives.

Poor guy! Hope he makes a speedy recovery!

Incredible that he carried on shooting after the explosion until people arrived!

It does not surprise me that he carried on shooting, he is a true professional.

He was present when fellow bang bang club member, Ken Oosterbroek, was killed by "friendly fire" in South Africa in 1994, and he photographed the whole incident, despite almost being hit himself.

It reminds us that these people put their lives on the line to bring us the photos we glance at in the newspapers over breakfast.

I hope he has a speedy recovery so that he can get back to doing what he lives for, photojournalism.

I have just ordered the book. It looks like an amazing read on something that I find fascinating. I think behind being a top gear presenter, I would love to be able to be a war photographer. No doubt it is easier to say than do and I wouldn't like to have my legs blown off. I have nothing but admiration for people that place themselves in the line of fire in the name of capturing these real life images so that people can understand the seriousness of war and it's effects.

very sad

read the bang bang club, a few years back, before got into photography..... an excellent read
