I am organising next year's Talk Photography convention and so I am looking for all the suppliers and speakers etc.

Is there someone in this section who would like to do a talk on black and white film ?

I am thinking about a quick talk about what is available, the differences etc and how to develop a black and white film. If the person is really up to it then how to print black and white pictures would be even better. I would do it but I am a beginner with film myself and I will have lots to do on the day. If someone does do this then I will do my best to bring along anything they need (that they can't bring) and they will get the entrance for free :)

I might pop in and see them at some point. I grew up in Leyland and only live 4-5 miles down the road. I was after a member on here doing it if at all possible.

Sounds a great idea Darren, wish I could make it there, but even at this kind of notice, it's impossible for me to guarantee to get a couple of days (or even a full day for that matter) to come over. I couldn't even get to the last convention in York, and that's only 40 minutes down the road from me, so not much chance, i'm afraid :(

I know you mentioned in another thread that you were hoping to get a "garage studio" setup organised... it might be nice if there were a couple of film cameras on hand so that the developed film would be from the actual convention.

Already sorted re garage studio. Lencarta are doing a "home/garage studio" thing. I will be bringing some B&W film and camera(s) with me.

I was just thinking, a couple of modern-ish 35mm film bodies (say a F5 and EOS-1v/3) as "loaners" would allow a few people to shoot with their own lenses, with a familiar feeling camera, and still get film results

Though if anyone were to take a Hassy for example that would be pretty awesome too!

I've got an F100 I'd be happy to bring along and I may still have the Dynax 9 which is just an awesome bit of kit, I should have a lens for it by then hopefully

If I find someone flogging an F5 when I have the money available then I will let out my F80. I have an EM as well.

I might well do an option thing with the entrance fee i.e. fee + T shirt / polo shirt + deposit for curry + B&W film etc etc

If you need some cameras for people to use I have a couple of different options I could lend out. I probably won't be able to get to the convention itself, but I certainly wouldn't mind sending a few cameras up

I would be a little concerned about being responsible for other people's cameras.

What I might do is see how many people have £15-25 cameras available and do a thread for people to offer them and sell them. With a roll of B&W we can have a decent useful section at the conference.

Maybe see if one of the Hong Kong fleabay places will do a multiple price on a box of Holga's - that'd be down with the Kool Kiddzz - I was amazed at how many takers the Homeless Holga thread got, and that was just for shooting 3-4 frames of film!

Edit: this place are knocking 'em out for £16.54 each - plenty of scope to get a camera and roll of film for under £25!

Excellent, that is what we will do.

We will have an official TP B&W film photography official camera and film combo. People can buy the kit before the convention and use the film then we can all develop it and see what people have :)

I'd volunteer for the printing talk if I could guarantee to be there but who knows what work will have in mind next May and the way things are right now I couldn't turn it down. Good luck though and I've got a 35mm rangefinder you could borrow if needed.

I have just bought a selection of assorted kit from another member on here, I have disposed of the Minolta/Sony Kit as I had no interest in keeping that already having a M42, Pentax PK and Olympus OM Film Kits.

After going through the rest of the kit I have left a Ricoh KR10-M (manual here) with a Sigma Mini Zoom 35-85mm lens and also a Lenningrad 8 exposure meter (manual here) which I am willing to donate. If this is not required I will offer it free on the forum to a Student who is involved in photographic study and requires a film camera.

As no response to my offer above, I have offered the equipment to a student to use.

Sorry Ed, I missed your response. I have something in mind, thanks for the offer.

I was hoping to have a film demonstration at the 2012 convention but nobody wants to do it :(

What I am looking at is just a demonstration of how you would take a film and develop it and maybe on the Sunday a demonstration of the principles of doing the print. Nobody feel they could do that.

Free entrance to whoever does it :)
