I know this is the photo sharing section & I don't have anything to share.

However I couldn't see where else to put it.

A friend of mine is giving a talk on Climate Change and needs

a photo of people sitting on a beach in England in the rain or a photo of English seaside in obviously bad weather.

Does anyone have anything that he could 'borrow' (i.e. not pay for).

I know this cause some people to jump up and down but it's a polite request to see if anyone can help.

If anyone does have anything he can use can you post a link here or send me a PM with a link (or I can give you my email address).

Thanks

Bit odd to request that on here, might be better off just contacting people on Flickr who have photos which match your requiements, I am sure there would be many.

Ok thanks Scott, will do.

Maybe a picture of 'magic beans' would be better, as they are about as genuine as climate change! (I mean climate change has occured since the dawn of time, but it is not a genuine reason to tax people).

There was 'climate change' in my house the other night when I upset the missus.

Went decidedly frosty...

Climate is changing all the time in sunny swansea lol
One minute its warm the next its cold whaddayagonnado badabingbadaboom
But seriously, like said already have a look around and see what's what but make sure you get permission to use first! Or just go shoot it yourself, don't need a fancy camera to be in the right place at the right time and i doubt your going to want a massive print done

I'm in Eltham and too busy to go down to the coast to get one for him.

He's in Eastern Europe somewhere.

I presumed his talk would be using a projector.

I'll tell him to do a search on Flickr as was mentioned earlier.

It's not a seaside pic, but I do have this one...

I don't have one of people sitting on a beach in the rain. But I can do you a man ina mankini in the snow. :D

James - that is a cracker. Ice cream in the winter.

Dave - mankini - maybe you need to audition for TOWIE.

Eh? where's the clue it's winter? I've been to open air concerts in summer that the prevailing weather required me to be dressed in more than that...

Not brilliant but just shows how hardy we Brits are :cuckoo:

]

That's cool to see....The place beach/prom here is deserted if raining.
An incredible amount of locals complain when it rains like it's unfair that it's come here and not stayed up north! .....we get about 30 wet days a year!!!!! ..........Some of em don't know when they're onto a good thing!

Try searching for a mate of mine Simon Roberts. He might have something.

Graham.

Would that be on Flickr?

How come the threads whinging about people looking for photographers to work for free are ten a penny yet when it's a member asking the same it's not only kosher but he is sent out to fleece Flickr users for images?

Now now, magic beans are real :D

Brian

I don't think anyone on here was suggesting my friend steal anything from Flickr.

No on google, sorry rushed that last post. He did a tour of Britain last year, I think, callee "we English". He may have stuff that didn't make it into his exhibition.

No but it was suggested you approach Flickr users and ask to use their images for free.

There's threads a-plenty on here started by people who have had messages on Flickr with similar requests and usually the reply is to tell the asker to eff off.

Actually there are a lot of people on Flickr who are quite happy for their photos to be used in Blogs with a link back for no charge.

No every photo has to be paid for. Yes there are professionals and there are amateurs.

If an amateur wants to let someone use a photo of theirs for no charge, then so be it.

I can see the difference if the person who wanted to use it would normally pay for an image as they are using it to make money and then decides they now want it for free.

e.g. Sports images in local newspapers (who suddenly have no budget for paid images) !!

I could be wrong but most of the threads on here relating to people wanting to use images from flickr tend to be after the fact, i.e. someone that's found out their image is being used without permission already.

Not seen any threads where someone came on here to complain about people having the good grace to at least ask rather than stealing them.

Why not simply get a few friends to go to the seaside next time it rains (shouldn't have to wait long) and shoot it yourself?

Wayne

I would have done it myself last time I was in Brighton.

It was just an old school friend living in Eastern Europe somewhere who is looking for one. He asked on FB so thought I'd ask (even though I knew it would cause ire to ask for something for free)..

If I had time I'd nip down and shoot one (I'm only a few mins from a beach) but it's not raining for a change and I'm busy as heck.

Wayne - could be snowing later though.

no people, but a typical beach scene!

tried to sell this to weymouth tourism, wonder why they didn't want it ;-)
