Wanted digital compact- What to get?

I have a 400d several lens and feel when going out with friends i want something smaller.

what would you reccommend?

I wouldn't mind AV but it doesn't have to be but what i do want is decent picture quality although i know it will never be as good as a DSLR it will still be useable.

so what do you recommend?

I have friends who have purchased the Canon ixus models..... unbelievable quality and very easy to use.

Yes another vote for Ixus. A lot of photos on my Flickr page are taken with my trusty Ixus 40.

If you want a bit more 'control' then go for a Canon powershot. Some of these have shutter / aperture priority modes that the Ixus doesn't have. But they are a bit bigger than the really small Ixus.

I use one all the time from Mountains to parties brilliant little camera. IF this one ever breaks I probably get another

I got my wife a Panasonic Lumix Fx33 for xmas - dead small but lots of nice features and razor sharp pics!
