Want to work at Getty Images?

2 years ago, I'd have applied for this, I wouldn't have got it obviously as I would have had nowhere near enough experience. I would have thought this would have been the best job ever. Having seen a fair bit of the wiring/pressure/not so good side of that type of work in the last year or so I think I'll happily stick to studio work, and just enjoy picking and choosing the sports stuff I do as a secondary income/hobby.

That's not to say I don't like the pressure and wiring etc. but not all the time. To be honest, and I know some of you guys are agency shooters, a lot of the agency/getty guys I have met (in Australia and the UK) that have been doing that stuff for years moan like hell about 'the office', or where they have to travel tomorrow, or that they had an argument in an airport with so and so. It doesn't sound half as glamorous as one might think.

Just read the thread from the start and two things spring to mind, how do we go from a job advert for what IMO a great job for a sports snapper ( I wish I was 30 odd years younger) to a spat about Getty giving pics away free.
If we are going to rant about free images I don't think people should vent there anger at Getty.
As Kippax said In an other post he went to FA cup game and there were 15 photographers there and like he said there is at best only 2 or 3 pictures used.

Because this is TP and pretty much everything escalates into an argument as people aren't mature enough to have discussions like adults without resorting to patronising each other or throwing insults at each other (not necessarily in this thread...yet).
