Want to add new plugs to existing power line adapters

Have been using a couple of power line adapters, as pictured below, for a few years now. They work fine and very happy with them but would like to get another 2 plugs to supply 2 more computers. Having read a little about adapters I believe its best to get same make/compatible with my existing adapters. Can anyone tell me which adapters will work ok with my existing ones, Had a search and cannot find any which are the same as mine and only info on plugs is as in pictures. TIA for any help.

Just searched images on google and they are Devolo plugs, Amazon sell Devolo plugs, though not the same type as mine, will probably order them and if no good can return
 
Devolo indeed, did you know you can look this up by MAC address :)

By the looks of it they are quite old (slow) models. What I do when I add more to them is to get the best value fastest ones out there and move the slowest to the least important area.
 
I am a great fan of Homeplugs / Powerline adapters and have about 6 or 7 around the house to connect Smart TVs, Media Streamers, etc., to my network and the internet. Mixing different brands does not matter, but it is important to use the same "generation" of device if you want new ones to talk to the old ones. Original speeds were 14mbps, followed by 56 then 85, then 200 and 500. Get the same speed and all should be fine.

PS Yours look like 85's which are quite old, but still more than adequate for streaming iPlayer, Amazon Prime etc around the house.

The only mix that should be avoided is Netgear and anything else as they used a slightly different implementation of the standard which is incompatible with the one used by Devolo, TP-Link, etc.
 
I'm mixing 200 and 1200 devices from devolo just fine. The 1200 are amazing, really good with building AC as well.
 
If the OP has got 85MBps ones, (version 1.0 of the standard) which I think his are, then these are not compatible with later versions.
Later versions may be compatible with each other as dejongj points out above.

Yep you are correct, new 500 Mbps plugs delivered today and they are not compatible with the 85 Mbps units I have. Need at least 3 plugs so will order some more 50Mbps plugs and ebay the 85Mbps so wont be the end of the world. Thanks for all the info guys.
500Mbps plugs £25 for 2 at Amazon- the ones with just 1 port, the plugs with 3 ports are £38 so finally able to plug the TV, Humax recorder and the Amazon box in at the same time - never knew there were so many c--p films until we got the Amazon fire box :)

MAC address wasn't, but security id was. But only if I was on the same consumer board and wanted to access your network. Theoretical risk was very high, but likely hood was very low.

We use two tplink plugs, two net gear ones and three devolo and they all seem to play well together.
 
Oh here's a thought. Do you need new plugs or could you use a switcher?

Are they the same genertaion as DeadpanDodo mentioned above? Sorted now with 4 TP link plugs, kids are not moaning so speed must be ok and Amazon box etc for TV workng fine. Will sell the original Devolo units on ebay

The ones I have are the wifi 500 ones that work over the powrrline and clone your wifi. There are a LOT of network appliances (ip cameras, computers, servers, phones) running over our network using them and they all seem to play nicely together.

I thought I'd need a powerline plug for my Amazon TV, but it runs perfectly on WIFI. So it can't be too demanding even with HD.

Amazon TV seems to scale and degrade nicely. Give it more bandwidth and the image gets stunning, give it less it still works well just not as pretty.
 
Thats what I mean. Not sure what speed the wifi is, but the Fire TV is running at its best. It's close to the router though. Upstairs the wifi signal is noticeably degraded. Which is why I added the TP-Link powerline adapters for my PC.
