Yes
I'm after some AA rechargeable batteries and a charger for my 580EXII as it seems to eat batteries. Any recommendations as I know they are different ones out there?

ebay have some 2450ma energizer batteries and charger for £12.50, they give a lot more instant power than the 1300ma i have when it comes to the ready light after a flash, 1300ma takes 4 seconds from a full flash, 2450ma take 2 seconds.

7 dayshop version of eneloops. just as good but a lot cheaper.. they are called Good-to-Go

I was looking for some as well and came across a lot of people recomending SANYO Eneloop as the best AA you can get even though they are only 2000.mAh, they out performed some of the 2750.mAh. I have ordered a packet of 8 and also a charger complete with 4 batteries.

Also watch fleabay, as some of the batteries bought off there were supposed to be 2750 and 2800 mAh and were found to be around 275 and 280 YES! 275, 280 mAh, right dodgy.

Only they are not! Set I got were discharged, didn't fill me with confidence! However they do work ok, but do not last as long as Eneloops on 1 charge.

Also eneloops come completely charged so you can use them straignt away

+1

Got a few sets of these, and the good thing about them, is that you can charge them, and leave them, and they will hold their charge for a fair while without losing much charge.....

I was debating between the eneloops or 7dayshop 'good to go' and ended up with the latter, and could not be any more pleased.......

I bought 6 sets, the only place they were "Good to Go" was straight into a charger, none of them had a full charge....

It doesnt mean good to go from when you receive them!!!

it means good to go once you have charged them you can leave them weeks and they will still be good to go.

I saw someone complain about this on a review of these batteries,, it killed me!!!!:D

Err...yes it does. The whole point of these (and the Eneloops) is that they are ready to use, straight out the packet.....

Quote from the 7dayshop website:

7dayshop.com Good TO GO batteries arrive pre-charged and ready to use

They advertise them as ready to use straight from the packet!
As do Eneloops, they are supposed to be an eneloop clone! so you would expect them to be ready to use the same as!

Yes, but once charged, they do hold their charge.....not really a big deal to initally charge a set of batteries is it....?

It is if you take them out to use in a flash and they don't work!

What ever you do don't get the eneloops with the fameart PC 15 charger from 7 days shop, the batteries are fine, but the charger overheats something rotten, in fact I would class it as dangerous, it gets that hot, as do the batteries.

Yes, but my point is that they may not hold their charge from new, but once they have been purchased, just charge them, and store them.....has worked fine for me.....

I think either eneloops or the 7dayshop ones would be fine...

Buy a few sets and you can't go wrong......and have a charger in your bag at all times just in case! ;)

I recently purchased some 2800mah batteries from this seller on ebay: http://shop.ebay.co.uk/paloweb/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

I use them in my Nissin Di866 which has a guide number higher (reportedly) than the Canon 580EXII. So far, they've been great. Recharge times are ligntening fast and I've been flashing away like crazy and have yet to recharge them. I may tell a different story in a few months time once I've used them repeatedly - only time will tell.

I also bought a one hour charger (different seller)- very convenient. Only used it once though.

Yes, I understand what you say, but Eneloops do hold the charge from new, and are fully charged from new, all 6 sets I have, have done! Only the 7dayshop ones needed any kind of 'settling in' but still good value though!

regardless of the fact they are pre-charged, do eneloops hold any other advantage over say 7day shops (not good-to-go) ni-mh batteries?

Yes. They give full power right up to discharge, hold the charge in your bag for months, and months, and..

I just switched to Eneloops after going through bags of standard disposable batteries. I must say I wish I'd made the change sooner. They're outstanding!

What Digital Camera did a test on AA batteries in the Sept 2008 issue.
They measured the number of shots taken with 11 different batteries; a mixture of rechargeable and non-rechargeable.

The best were Energizer Ultimate Lithium (non-rechargeable) with 803 shots followed by Sanyo Eneloop 2000mAh (rechargeable) with 766 shots. The 7DayShop 2800mAh (rechargeable) came 4th with 463 shots. In last place were the Kodak Supralife (non-rechargeable) with 202 shots.

I'm using unicross hybrid and vapextech 2900mah batteries.
The vapaxteach ones do not have the capacities indicated according to my maha 9000c charger, so I would avoid it.
I've heard good things about gp recyko too.
