weekly Wallyboys 52 for 2016, CELEBRATION ADDED

Old: Waaaay before my time. But a great image love and sharp

Metal: Good take on the theme agree with other about trimming a bit off the top of the image

Captive: Nice take in the theme well thought out

Miniature: Nice and colourful image certainly pops of the screen

Ooo my eyes, big bright colours and sure does pop. Spot on theme too.

Fab colours there Walter, my only crit would be to have him more to the right to give him a bit more space to look into as it feels a little cramped on the LHS. Top marks for interpretation though :clap:

He's certainly a happy chappy! Shot looks sharp and colours are spot on to my eye. Would liked to have seen a slightly shallower DoF to isolate him from the disinteresting background I think.

Hi Walter - yes, looks good to me too. Agree with Ian about the bg but otherwise it hits the Happy spot.

Well it made me smile, nicely on theme

Very happy chappy :) good interpretation!

Well it made me smile, nicely on theme (y)

certainly is happy made me smile too

Very happy, nicely taken

Bang on theme, clean and sharp. Job done for another week
Thanks, point taken about BG did another pic with a guassian blur put on flikr,
I'm happy it made some of you smile:)

On theme... Nice and sharp and on the RoT. But I have to agree with the comments about seperation from the background.
You may have gotten away with it without the two planters to the right, but with them in evidence the shot has distractions.

I agree with the above comments.

Happy fits the theme and made me smile too

He certainly looks happy. Agree with the others about the distractions, perhaps a portrait orientation would have worked better?
Thanks for comments,

It certainly looks less busy with that tighter crop, but I think the belly is important in this picture :) Not so sure about that red border either...

Mario is certainly nice and bright, would be nice to have something for size comparison, but still, nicely positioned in the frame, and you sure did make the colours pop :)

Happy - Yeah a very happy figure, I wasn't to keen on the first, looked too snapshot of a statue plonked on a tree stump for my liking, but the edit with the tight crop works nicely, the DoF works well, and the crop has got rid of the pots that were in the first image fighting for attention - nice one :)

Thanks for comments, points taken on board,:)

This was totally unexpected today, couldn't believe my luck when I saw it, and its quite fitting as the last one rolled of production line this week,
and to top it off on the way back we spotted some parakeets in the trees happy daze indeed,:)

c&c welcome

Nice one Walter. Yes very apt and fits just perfectly.I too would have been chuffed to have spotted this and would have taken the photo you have here. That photo in the bag I would then be then thinking of how I could make a bit more of it, from what I have learned since owning my camera this means trying it in different light or adding light and maybe trying different points of view too.
This is not a crit (whom am I too etc etc) and you may have gone through all that and for what ever reason this is the best it could be and thats fine.
Well done.

Gaz

Some good interpretations of the themes, my main feedback would be to watch the backgrounds a little colourise, Mario's dungarees blend very nicely in to the background. Nice work on the lighting in all the still life shots (y)

Hi Walter ....someone may well unearth that one now they're no longer made ..I'm sure they will be collectible in the future ...my Dad worked at the land Rover for many years so I felt a bit sad to see the end of production.

I do feel it needs a slight boost but then it may make it look less abandoned ...a difficult one o_O...very well spotted.

Hi Walter

I seem to have missed your thread completely!! Just seen your submissions and read through all the crit and good stuff but don't really have any more to add.

OK now ... the Land Rover. I think I know what Gaz @cargo is saying ... great find, you've taken the right shot, but it's the obvious shot. Maybe there's no more interesting way of approaching it but I'm just wondering ... what's to the RHS or to either side for that matter? If there's more of the same hedge, brambles, overgrowth then good as I think this subject - obviously neglected all-too-familiar Land Rover - would look even more neglected when distanced in a neglected environment.

OK you did say: c&c welcome :)

Nice find and very fitting as others have said

Liking your happy picture, you can't beat a full belly, yum yum.also a nice car for the abandoned theme, bet it would look good in B&W

What an amazing find for the abandoned theme, it fits the bill perfectly. A bit tight in the frame maybe but a great subject and well shot

Perfect for the theme and a very lucky find. I wonder if it will be saved looks fairly solid.

What a great find that is Walter - love that Landrover. I agree with Tim @LC2 about boosting saturation ... and possibly contrast but what a terrific response.

Great find for 'abandoned' certainly fit the theme and well captured.

Abandoned, very nice find. Pity it isn's a little wider to show some of the environment.

Cheers.

Abandoned? nah. It'll buff out :)
Good spot, but it feels a bit flat. Maybe playing with the saturation a bit might make it pop more?

Hi Walter, great find. I agree with Andy about seeing it in a bit more context, but the capture itself is very good and hard to get more on theme. Well done... now I just need some inspiration!

Thanks for comments and crit much appreciated,
On the day we were birding, and found the LR purely by chance, it was in a small compound which we entered where a fence was damaged, initially I tried shot with my 200-500 lens which was too long, luckily SWMBO had my other smaller tele 55-300 and with that because of limited space it was the only shot in town,
In keeping with theme the shot was not far off what was seen on the day, only PP was a straighten and crop,
I would like to think that the LAND ROVER I took the pic of will be back on road one day,
Be interesting to see what they replace it with:)

Definitely on the abandoned theme, and I even quite like the 'flatness' as I think it adds to the feeling of being washed out and left to rot. I would agree it's a tad right a crop though as further back may result in it appearing even more buried in the undergrowth?

Hi, abandoned definitely on theme but I think other people have mentioned it being a little flat so I won't go on
I would have definitely gone down the B+W route
