Walkstools

I have done a search and most posts are very old or were for sale items, are people on here still using walkstools ? I know they are expensive but the thought of a cheap one giving way and doing serious injury plays on my mind (at 110kg its possible !) I have been struggling more and more with my back of late and sitting on ground / laying very low is not good at present so like idea of a walkstool I can keep attached to my bag for use when needed, its my birthday just before we goto Scotland at Easter and the kids are asking what I want so this might be idea ?

Thanks James, I am 6ft 1 and 110kg which one would you recommend ? I was looking at 55 comfort but open to suggestions from users

I used a shooting stick, attached to my rucksack when not needed and can be used as walking stick too.
Still have it somewhere, I think!

I use the comfort 55 and it's about perfect for me. I'm 6' 2"

They're good, just glue the feet on because they're darn expensive to replace.

I get the feeling this is being sold not just for extra stability but to also hold the feet on ?

Well if you like Live View looks interesting.......but using the viewfinder will surely make the whole setup uncomfortable and ''risky'???

A friend of mine has a "Walkstool" and it is certainly up to my 105 Kilo weight - certainly expensive and does not inspire confidence, but it is actually more than up to the job being deceptively robust.

I would, however suggest that you try one first. My friend and I are about the same height and he finds it very comfortable, I find it rather painful on the crown jewels! Just don't buy one blind, try them first

Comfort 55 user here too. Very handy indeed, light weight and fairly comfortable.

Another comfort 55 user here I'm 5' 11" and a fat git, it's comfortable (for a stool) and feels secure, expensive yes but good value I believe.

Oh they are buttocks. I was seeing something else

The other nice thing is that they can be used with legs down or legs up. Legs up does take some practise balancing but does allow rotation which is good for sports photography.

if you are going hiking ,then look at shooting stick, i use one and find them great ,and i'm 21 st ,the walkstools i find are great on even ground , but a bloody pain on the mountain side, (tried both )
