Yes
I bought one of these last week from Warehouseexpress and used it on Saturday. Very comfortable and sturdy.

Minor problem - one of the caps from the end of stools legs came out and was left stuck in the ground. I only realised after I moved ends at half time which meant I then had mud stuck in that leg.

I did manage to retrieve the cap at the end of the match as it was still stuck in the turf where I was sat in the first half.

Has anyone else had this problem with the end caps? I was planning on just supergluing them all in which will hopefully do the trick.

Gee, they come expensive! I bought one similar in our local camping shop for £8.99. Mind you, haven't used it yet! But for £30+ you'd have thought it would all stay together.

Yup, I frequently get the same problem but fortunately discovered it during the cricket season when it was easy to retrieve the foot!

Now what I do is carry a Sainsbury's 'Bag for Life' (not the cheaper plastic ones but the non cotton harder wearing type) and use that as a groundsheet under the feet, which seems to work quite well.

:lol:i had an incident with a camping stool that split when I sat on it. Fortunately I was with the family at the time and not sat in front of the crowd. Amused the kids.

I'm going to email warehouseexpress and see what they say - as a stool I would expect to be able to sit on it at least twice before it falls apart

Mark - thanks for that will give it a try.

get one of these, it spreads the weight more evenly, at over 16 stone i have found myself losing all 3 ends at 6 inch deep into the soil, not a nice sight to see a blubbering idiot trying to regain his feet while retaining a modicum of modesty.

^ Utterly useless without pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely know where you're coming from though (sadly including the weight!).

cheers Gary. I'll give the walkstool another try with superglued end caps - I need to get my money's worth. I know where to look for a replacement if needed.

Rubber walking stick ferrules (they go on the end of walking sticks) are a great replacement for the feet. Markets are your best bet (or car boots)!

Blimey they are expensive. I have a £5 one from a camping shop, or petrol station. Nice and light to carry.

Tip from a biker: For sidestands on soft ground you can get plastic disks with sides, think mini plastic trays, to spread the load.

Like these:

Although I have used jamjar lids
What you do for the seat is to drill and tie them on with string etc.

Do you take your sandwiches and have a picnic as well ? :)

Yup - ham 'n mustard rolls plus a flagon of tea. Whether I get time to consume them is another matter entirely!

My cheap camping stool split whilst in front of the home end at Watford. Oh how they laughed :bang:.

Was it the fact it had splt, or was it because of where it ended UP ??:lol::lol:

Every stool I have bought feels like I am standing up when it comes to shooting. I prefer to be about 30cm off the floor at the most.

The walkstool is about 50cm of the ground. The stool/step mentioned by Paul that he got from argos is probably about 30cm.

Exactly the same as mine... wasn't enjoying my 3 legged stool sinking in the mud so invested in the above.

Has been spot on!

I normall just sit on my case... However if I'm going to a ground that I haven't been to before, I take my Walkstool with me incase there :
a. isn't the space to sit on my case
b. there is some advertising hoardings or some that is high and I need to see over (Tobers Chelsea story comes to mind)
c. it's actually too muddy and I don't want to get may case caked in mud!

It probably is about that height, If I'm at a ground with raised advertising hordings I tend to sit on a 400mm lens case.

I had to find one which would fit in my case as I was fed up with leaving the 3 legged one in the wrong car and ending up crouching for 2 hours, begging a stool off a ball boy or sitting on the wheels of a Thinktank. :shake:
