Walking a cat on a lead through the woods....

Have I missed the answer........but do we actually know why the woman was walking her cat on a lead?

I can't say I'm interested in supporting either argument as I have a dog and have had cats. Only the dog has ever been walked on a lead.

Curious though:shrug:

Oh - and for the PC/equal opportunity/anti dog/anti cat etc contingent I don't object to cats on leads or stroppy dogs..........I would, however, take delight in repaying the poster who suggested hitting the dog on the head with a stick with a swift kick up the a**e:bat:

Does't really matter my she was walking the Cat on a lead TBH.

I got close to hitting a dog up the backside with a badminton racket once.....but then when a Dalmation comes bounding across to you snarling, showing teeth and salivating whilst trying to bite me I'm within my right to defend myself.

If it chases after squrrels without listening toyou saying "no", it shouldn't be off the lead anyway. Red squrrels are an endangered species. Your dog catches one, maybe a hurt one, just onetimeand you could be in massive trouble. Imagine a child tried to protect their cat from your dog. Again - not a pretty scenario, in fact far worse.

You have to remember that first and foremost it is an animal. You are responsible for it's actions. A judge wouldn't accept a "sorry your honour, but my dog usually listens, just this time she wanted to chase a cat" should any such scenario arise. You can train it all that you want, but if you are not in control of the dog, it's pointless. 90% of the time is great....but not good enough. You're in charge, the dog needs to understand and respect that at all times, not just 90% of the time. If that means that it needs to be on a lead more often, so be it.

You want to walk your dog, someone else wants to walk their cat. You both have equal rights to do so and equal responsibility for the safety of your own animal and responsible anything that they do.

I have never seen ( or thought of) anyone walking a cat, ferret or rat so this thread has cheered me up no end!

The wife and I were driving home one evening through a little village called Bulphan in Essex and I saw a guy walking along the street and I did a double take then stopped reversed back up the road and yes I did see what I thought I did....a guy out walking with a Parrot on his shoulder...lol.

This guy was having an evening stroll with a Scarlet Macaw sitting happily on his shoulder.

Well said and couldn't agree more!

Although, I do see other peoples point of view, that the lady walking her cat in the woods is asking for trouble.
