I decided a couple of days ago that my back was going to give in if I kept carrying my DSLR to work and back for the out and about town shots.

Bearing that in mind I have spent a couple of days mouching in and out of various camera shops to play with the vast amounts of compacts out there.

Finally decided I liked the Panasonic TZ3 and took the plunge..

Wandered back to the office and charged up the battery, slammed in a SD card and diverted all calls to mobile and went for a quick wander.

Must say I am pretty impressed with the build quality and the functionality of this little camera, of course it will not replace the lovely Nikon but it will save my back during the week in london.

Here are a few from today

Now all I have to do book up the Physio sessions to cure the weeks of damage caused by lugging round the DSLR.

Cheers

They're not half bad images at all ... :suspect: ... I'd be pleased with them from my ampro gear ...

Congrats on the buy ...

:p

Very nice photos, which just shows "it's the workman, not the tools"

Thanks Hillwalkinggirl... though sometimes I think its the versatility of the tools that helps the workman...

I think this will force me to think more as I will not be able to rely on the saving graces of RAW.

Well thats my thoughts any way.....

Cheers

Thanks V

I was quite please with images I have only been playing with it today but I think it will be a little work horse.. its solidly build and the controls are all to hand.

I have just bought the same one. What settings did you have it on to take those shots?

Hi Tonyblue

I had the camera set to normal picture the conversion I carried out in iphoto its pretty much as shot in camera.

I mainly got this to be a quick fire camera for hunting locations and shots for me to revisit with the DSLR and for general around london grab shots.

nice collection there. i love my little pany and will find any excuse to leave the canons and mamiyas in the bag and wander free with the little gem.

I love my little Pany - I just wish it had a proper viewfinder - I hate composing shots on that screen. :gag:

I know what you mean however I find it ok with the Grid lines on, and I have not got the sun behind me.

Can not have every thing I guess... I did think that but when buying it but thought the only other two I liked was the G9 (Mainly because of the RAW and size) and the Leica but I could not warrant the 450.00 for a walkround grab camera.

Cheers

Thanks for the comments, It is liberating not having your shoulder dislocated and your back strained but still being able to capture what you are after or what just appears.

I don't know exactly what features you get with yours but I find that between the normal, power and high angle modes I can see the screen mostly all the time. I really dont mind not having a viewfinder but perhaps that's as much to do with my preference for a camera with a ground glass back. Now if the pany had an upside down and back to front screen mode that would be perfect.

Nice shots Nigel, as has been said if you've got it then you've got it and you can take good shots with anything, nice one.

Nice set of shots Nigel and congrats on your new camera. I love my little Panasonic FZ8, I do use it for just the reason you say and not just macro, sometimes the dslr stuff is just to much and too obtrusive.
