So whos going and are you paying in as I have some info as to where to go for the best shots without paying the £17 entry fee:thumbs:

No need Alex theres a little known layby where all the flying action can be caught better than a paid ticket mate

Might go up, weather permitted - good excuse to crack out the 300mm f/4 :)

To park in the layby you have to be there early though Taz I will be there about 8.30 sunday as saturday is near impossible to get shots

posts crossed :D

You're confident the fuzz don't close access like they do at Duxford?

They only close the laybys on the A15 so should be ok and I have been told by some spotters this is the road they always keep open

I will have a word with someone who goes every year, on monday and see if there are any cross country tracks to better vantage points

Well if I were you I would have a plan B at hand, whenever I've been in the last 10 years any parking on that road, be it that layby or off the road on the verge has been forbidden with the police enforcing it strictly.

How strictly, anything less that electrodes on the testicles and i'd give it a go :D

Pete, I use that lane often for shots and I'm fairly sure there was talk about closing the layby because it leads to a crashgate and the amount of cars parking in there can cause problems.
Now I could be wrongly informed. I'll try and find more info out. Bear with me...

Tell me more - I see they close the 'viewing area' on the A15 for the duration.

I was thinking of going on friday - weather permitting - £5 on gate (per person)

Friday is a good day to go. I'll be there. Just hope we dont get easterly winds. They dont land at the end we want them to then. :'(

I am at work till 10 on fri so its a sunday trip for me Kev and I will ask a bloke at work, he goes to the same spot every year and gets some good shots so will see where it is:thumbs:

When I have driven past each year there have been bollards blocking the entrance, signs everywhere about not parking on verge etc, this is from the Wed eve before the weekend till the following Tue morning after deps. As has been pointed out, that lane leads to a crashgate so "must" be kept clear.

You may be ok on foot but in a car I would not risk it.

Just my opinion and what a mate in the MOD Police tells me.

Gotta agree with striker and i live five minutes from waddington.

Over the past two years this layby has been blocked off. The only way you could access it is by foot.

Mmm thought so.The crashgate does need to be kept clear. I've got tickets for saturday. Should get my shots then. :D

I'm pretty sure DM that lay-by (was in fact route of old road) is deffo closed off on show days. As has been pointed out it leads to a designated crash gate needing access at all times.
Best hope of a good alternative short of £17 is an entrepreneurial farmer, who'd probably want £16.50!

Yes looking at the arial pic it does look like its going to be a no go:shake:

Real shame Pete, it is a good spot. I think they even stop you on foot going down the lane. You can get to thee nd of the runway down there on the left. Some amazing shots can be had. But to be honest I would expect it would get out of hand on show day with the amount of people going down there.

As a young teenager ( early 70s) I walked around the entire perimeter one day sneaking photos of the Vulcans on the dispersal points. It took me the best part of a day and I was up to my knees in mud. Them were the days...

Looks like 2 tickets for sunday then dammit my beer money away again:lol:

What happens on the Friday then? Is it just pot-luck what you might see flying?

Sorry, yes, I know it's arrivals. Is there a timetable, or do you turn up and just see what turns up when you're there?

£34 for 2 tickets............ah well it had to be done, now lets hope the weather holds out with some nice blue sky without a CPL yet so ev -1.7 me thinks

Thats good, have a look at how much 2 tickets would cost you for Flying Legends or Fairford, come to think about it how much for a Premier league game
