Yes
I was considering getting one for my son who's doing a gfx design course at college. Anyone know what it's like or if it would be any use to him?

Ta.

I love these and found it really easy to get along with.

Personally I think it would be a brilliant present

:agree:

I have an earlier version of that and I think it is great laods esier than a mouse.

I found it took a bit of getting use to but now I'd never use a mouse for Photoshop
or any other graphics program.

Would be a great gift but may find a larger one more useful like the wacom intuos range but these are much more expensive!

I have an Intruios3 11"x9" which is a large version of the model above so cannot really talk about the smaller version specifically but they are a very useful input device. They allow a much more natural way of drawing onto the computer and linked with software such as Corel Draw you can get some fantastic results. They also make photo retouching easier especially when doing something like touching up a model's complexion or cutting out hair etc. They do take a lot of getting used to but once you have done you end up using them for web browsing and general stuff like that.

Great. Well I may just go for this and see how he gets on with it and if he feels the need for a larger one then that's fine.

cheers

That's just the touch, you need the Pen & Touch for graphics work.

The originally posted one is ideal as a good starting point, and I doubt the size will be an issue, it's the same size as my Intuos 4 that I retouch with all the time.

hmmm... :thinking:

what about this one ? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/175427

That's just the Pen Tricky. I'm no expert, I'm just assuming the pen&touch is More ;)

it's not entirely clear !

it reads as if there is the pen and tablet

* Advanced pen technology
* Pressure-sensitive pen tip
* Battery-free and ergonomic pen with two buttons
* Paper-like tablet surface with 16:10 format
* Reversible tablet design for left- or right-handed use
* Attached pen holder for convenient storage
* Easy USB connection
* Interactive tutorial to make the most of Bamboo
* Overall tablet size: 248 x 176 x 8.5 mm (9.8 x 6.9 x 0.3 in)
* Active area size: 147 x 92 mm (5.8 x 3.6 in)

I think I get it now ... but do you need the 'touch' tablet ? or would the pen and tablet be ok for image manipulation ?

Yes sorry,i think you've misunderstood or I have :lol: . The tablet is there but there is more than one model.

Just looked at the Wacom website and read about the Bamboo pen & touch Fun Medium. It's double the price but has some decent software with it.

'as well as full versions of Adobe Photoshop Elements and ArtRage – Bamboo Fun Medium even comes with a full version of Corel Painter Essentials'

Looks worth the extra so might just get that. He's using CS4 and Flash at college so he may find these useful. :thinking:
