Vulcan XH588 has completed all Test flights

What's that got to do with the price of rice, PsiFox?

oh I dunno, maybe it will get the permit and fly again and people 'may' want to take photographs of it at an airshow in the near future

thats just a wild stab in the dark though :shake:

Cool, that's been a long time coming, a guy I know from another forum used to work on Valiants and has been following this with interest.

About 20,000 people worldwide contributed to the restoration of the bomber and £2.7m has come from the Heritage Lottery Fund

Blimey, some of the lottery money has been spent on something worth preserving

Back in the late 80s I went to a truck show at Bruntingthorpe, there was a Lightning in one of the hangars,I was told a group of business men bought it for £1,000 is it still there

I for one can't wait to get some pictures of this over the summer!

/carlsberg "Probably the noisiest aircraft in the world!" so take earplugs :)

There were several lined up at Cranfield (Beds.) airfield a good few years back. Apparently, an Australian business man had bought them, with a view to flying them back, but they never got an air certificate, and stayed put for a long while...then one day a friend of mine knocked one over whilst working there (not by hand!) and they eventually got shipped out - not flown! I never found out where they went, but I think it probable to the scrappie.

I hope that Vulcan flies again...shook Cranfield to pieces one year!

I'm at Fairford in 4 and half weeks so bring it on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a thought- how many people have been killed as a result if one?

(sorry, just a thought!)

I'm not sure that the Vulcan has a single confirmed kill if thats what you mean, they were designed to deliver frightening payloads of nuclear bombs against the soviet union.

Though I seem to remember they were flown half-way round the world to drop sticks of bombs as close support in the Falklands war under the name Black Buck.

This aint got nout to do with photography ....

move to OOF maybe ... ?

1 of the Black Buck missions killed 4. I believe these missions were the only time the Vulcan was used i anger, so a small kill count for what was part of our nuclear force.

I agree that a move to OOF is probably needed though.

It's going to be a major photo op when/if it does display, so this thread is on topic imo.

Been following its progress with interest, tickets bought for RIAT in July and fingers crossed it will have all the necessary paperwork to allow it to make an appearance there. Very excited by this aircraft :D

It would be great to see one of these flying again, I took a photo of one of the last ones ( Avro Vulcan XL360) on its last landing at Coventry airport ( now on display there)
So, now there is a photo link, this thread is in the right place ;)

Thats fantastic news

I can't wait to hear those engines again

Waddo in July is where they hope to debut permits and pilot display certificates pending.
Bearing in mind the History of the V Force and Waddington this would be extremely fitting.

I posted here as I felt it relevant to the people that take air photos but couldn't post in transport as no actual pics yet.
In OOF it would probably get lost.
