VR lens for Nikon?

As you can tell by my posts im not an expert so asking this should be ok without people saying i should already know it.

What is VR? Reason i ask is that i have nothing to do until next september when i start college (apart from 2 studio and digital courses) so im going to get myself a job and upgrade my kit, if i decide not to buy a new body (looking at D300 from jacobs for 917.00), i definately want to get new lenses, i literaly shoot everything so i want to replace the 3 i have. I have got my eyes on a VR lens, and i dont know if that would work properly on my D70S.

Let me pic you brains!
 
It'll work fine on your D70s, however it depends really on why you want VR as to whether you really need it or not.

Which lens/lenses did you have in mind?

It's not the fact that it is a VR lens: Nikon AF 80-400mm f4.5/5.6 ED VR, its expensive (found it for 675.00), which is why i was thinking i may aswell just get a new body for about 100 more, keep the kit lens and sell my 55-200 and 70 - 300 and buy a tele lens for longer distance shooting...if any of that makes sence :lol:
 
Now is a really bad time to be considering the 80-400 VR.

Just wait 3 months.
