It has always seemed okay to me, a little soft at the full 300mm which I'd expected as the norm for a zoom lens, but to be honest, being my first DSLR and without anything to compare it to, I don't know whether I'd notice the difference.
As soon as the rain lets down, I'll put it on the tripod and try it out on something.
