As I live in the sticks, we have quaint things called Village Produce Association days where people bring in their vegetables, cakes, and rather random items in to be judged against their neighbours. I've ignored it all for 10 yrs now even though they had a Photography section. I presumed it would be full of old people shaking leeks at each other !

Yesterday I entered a pic into both categories and walked away with first prize in both and a huge Cup.. I was like :eek:
They got some pro photographer into do the judging and he even stuck a post-it to each of my pictures saying what he liked about it :) :D

:woot::1st:

:banana: congrats

well dun Puz:clap:

so c'mon - show us the pix - and the post-its :naughty:

Category one - Winter Scene
20070306192543_snow10.jpg

Bearing in mind I showed 20in x 30in print. Kinda dominated the others ;)
Judge said it had an 'etheral feel' and beautifully printed (ta photobox)

Category two - Celebration
kids2.jpg

Judge said it showed great characters, well presented and had a 'fun' appeal!

That's fantastic, they are really nice photos.

Its our local horticultural show on the 2nd September and I think I'm going to enter a couple of photos. We have a max size of 7 x 5 though.

Congratulations Puz. That winter scene at 20"x30" must have blown everything else out of the water, bigger is always better (as my granny used to say) :D

Well done! You must be feeling really proud of yourself - I would if it was me!

:clap: :clap: Congratulations! A well deserved win IMO ;)

We have our local one this coming weekend. Ive entered all 5 categories;

Colour - Landscape
Colour - Pets and Wildlife
Colour - People
Open category - Digital (Anything taken with a digital camera)

Fingers crossed, as I hope to win the grand £5 prize.:thumbs::D

Those are great Puz, 20x30", that would've been quite a sight to see that pic in that size !

btw, your location is Wye Valley, you are not close to Herefordshire are you ?

Congrats, reminds me of last years county fair here. I got hassled into entering by some co-workers so I entered 8 pictures and walked away with 3 1sts, 3 2nds a 3rd and a trophy for most points gained in the photography section.

Aye, I'm in the Wye Valley, Hereford is about an hour away from me. Wye Valley is on the Gloucester/Monmouthshire border. Basically Go down from Hereford, through the forest of Dean and you're in the land of Trees, Rivers, Sheep and the Welsh ;) Where u based ?

Congratulations on a fine win....
I love the 1st one and will like the 2nd when the kids return to school and I am not reminded of the noise as they are stuck in cos its raining again:suspect:

PS many old men waving leeks ?

Pat

Thanks :)

I am in Hereford :) 10 mins walk from the city center so very close to town. I happens to go to Hay-on-wye a lot too as well, you near there? :) (my geography is rubbish)

oh wow...well done you! Lovely shots but the detail in the second one is brilliant...so much to see and the happiness just shines through!

Yeh they're a great bunch of kids to work with. 5 seconds after this shot, they dropped the girl and did 'Pile On' and havoc insued ! lol

I pop into Hereford every now and then. Bought my 10-20mm lens in Jessops there earlier this year. Then went inside Hereford Catherdral taking HDR shots (which reminds me, noones seen those).

Hay on Wye the book capital of the UK. Great place if you like books and leaving with no money ;)

Don't live anywhere near there. It's about as far as Hereford is to me ! Further South you need to go, down the A49 towards Ross on Wye and the A40 towards Monmouth and you're right at the top of the Wye Valley then !
