Mrs Wombat in her Audi has no problem getting out of the drive and off to work. The Wombats rear wheel drive Merc fishtails like a Conger eel on speed.Five yards max--out with the spade---two yards--- out with the spade etc, etc, etc.Fifty yards down the road I gave up and reversed home.
Anyone else stuck today ?
Pete.

Well, I've been stuck at home albeit for a totally different reason.

On a side note, what does "Vors..... " mean?

My swedish motor behaved impeccably in the heavy snow yesterday and the ICE today/ Only slid around when I requested it, although helm control was significantly reduced!

Pete.

Almost

Vorsprung durch technic often translated into English as 'progress through technology'. A literal translation would be 'advancement through technology'. There's no single English word which is an exact English equivalent of 'vorsprung'; 'to leap ahead' comes close.

My Ford Mondeo couped very well with the very slippery conditions, my Asta van didnt, infact it couldntg get out of my road without the wheels spinning (without throttle being used ) or the ABS kicking with the tinest of touches of the brakes. Cant remember the last time the Mondeo used ABS appart from when i delibratly test it to make sure its working.

Pity you can't buy 2cvs anymore :(

Quattro is great, just remember it doesn't allow you to stop any quicker ;)

Nah. There's no literal translation because it doesn't make grammatical sense in German - it's a slogan rather than a sentence.

I've left the lexus at home and have been using the mini. But now I've a build-up of ice behind the wheel arch liner and have very limited steering lock :nono: :bang:

Didnt get stuck, 4wd and all terrain tyres might have helped a little though

Like an idiot I sold my LPG Grand Cherokee last year as I wasnt using it enough----Doh. :bonk:

My aging Motor coped perfectly because I wasnt rushing to get anywhere. Lots of people must think that because their car is modern, that it will drive in snow like its on rails.

News Flash !! it wont !!!

I just used 2nd to pull away, and drove along the side streets very carefully. Wheels never spun and I never crashed.

And all without the aids of modern technology.

Ka did fine for me, no probs and no slipping.

My smog producing focii behaved perfectly in the snow...... :D

A car can be ridiculously expensive and still crap if it won't take you on a journey ;)

Toyota Hilux........no problems........insert smug smiley here....:D
