Hello all,

It's been a while since I posted on here and things have been steadily gathering pace and now I'm about to start undertaking a lot of shoots although a lot of these will be with volunteer models, which brings me to my question:

When you have asked and accepted the help of a volunteer model, given you're in a situation where you can't afford to pay, how would you go about rewarding them for their time??

I was thinking about a free disk of images once the shoot is done, but the missus is dead against this.

I have a few nice opportunities coming up and with the weather improving, I would very much like to get cracking.

Thanks in advance

Scott

a CD of image for their portfolio would be the norm. With some usage restrictions normally

Copies of images would be normal 'payment' for volunteer models. They've given their time to help you, a few shots for personal/family use would be fair. What has your missus got against it? If you had paid the models then it'd be different.

I think it's because she wants the best from the business and doesn't like seeing me working for nothing, but it's helping me build so that's what I'll do.

A cd it is

Time for prints (or CD) is the norm here. You're in a catch 22 situation with her-in-doors, you need to build your portfolio to encourage people to pay you for your work. Without the cash to pay these models you only have one choice and that's offer something.

Offer TFP/TFCD

Hope this helps

You have to remember its you that wants to do the shoot so its really the model thats working for nothing not you. If of course someone contacts you for a portfolio job then charge them but if you want a model and a model wants some portfolio images everyone is a winner.

My sentiments exactly. I'm doing both paid and unpaid water with the woman mentioned so I guess all is good.
