I'm getting rid of vonage. They supply a box that you plug a normal DECT phone into. I want to get one I can use with Skype instead. I hardly use the landline to call out but a few people call me on it and it is useful to have a landline style number.

I don't want one of those USB doodads. I want one that will plug straight into a gigabit switch.

I have had a quick google but I'm too vague on what I actually need and the skype compatible ones I've found so far are either usb or entire sets of DECT phones.

What doodad do I need?

Phone into ethernet switch are usually referred to as IP Phones.
However, if you just want to use skype for outgoing calls then a mobile phone over wifi would do the trick after all skype is basically just an internet phone system unless you are going with skype for business which does a lot more than just phone calls.

It was more to take incoming calls using the normal DECT phone rather than being tied to the mobile all the time.

There are several different solutions depending on what you're trying to achieve.

You can get a VOIP (Voice Over IP) phone that will plug into an Ethernet port on your router. You'll need a compatible service as well, e.g. Skype for Business or sipgate to route calls to it.

In general, you need to be careful if you want to keep your existing number as the porting process usually includes termination of the landline associated with it. As a Vonage customer, that process should be easier as I assume the number is already linked to their service.

There are many compatible handsets available, including DECT models.

If you want to keep using your existing phone, then you will need a replacement ATA (Analogue Telephone Adapter) to convert the VOIP service e.g. Cisco SPA112
It might be possible to use the Vonage box, if they don't want it back and you can unlock it.

I'm currently using an older ATA unit (SPA3102) to convert my standard PSTN landline to VOIP so it can be auto-answered. :)
