Voigtlander Besser MF

Seen this knocking about for about a year now.

Looks fab BUT at £1600 :suspect: will have to think about it first

*drools* *drools* *drools*

but at over 1.5k, i would start wondering if its worth it? a used leica could be got for that:lol:

You might want to look closer, £1900 when you include VAT!

Yeah but you'd be stuck with those puny 35mm negs wouldn't you;)

What happened to the silver Fuji
And the 21st century bellows....

£1900 doesn't seem like an awful lot for a brand new 6x7.
Your gonna do a grand on a 10 year old Mamiya 7 and a couple of lenses, only one lens if its a wide.
It'll probably drop 20% after a year anyway.

Maybe folks are thinking they'd rather have a D700, trouble with that is, there's nowhere to put the damn film, a glaring oversight by Nikon imo..:D

I don't understand these kind of cameras very well. Not much, if any, knowledge of them although I have a medium format folding camera upstairs. So this one is upwards of £1600, can I assume the lens is fixed and not interchangeable? Does that not limit it's use somewhat? What would you be using this camera for, in general?

Generally for taking pictures!

I would like one but it's a bit too expensive for me. I have about thirty film cameras and most of those cost between £5 and £30.

Steve.

I want the fuji version. Soooooo stylish.

Its fixed @ 75mm, which is nigh on a 50 on a 35mm camera.
Its a rangefinder, it doesn't have the adaptability of an SLR, or the bulk.
Even if it had interchangeable lenses, it wouldn't go much past 150mm which on M/F is probably 90 on 35mm film, so no bedroom windows at 300 yards and no fly's eyeball.
Rangefinders are Street/Scape/general and portrait cameras, for shooting light without lugging a big bag of cobblers about.
They are fast and silent to use, they flash sync faster than slr's, they are small, compact and unobtrusive, better than SLR's for some types of photography, but not as "do it all".

And another thing, damn they're pretty......

I know, the Fuji is beau, the Voigt is nice too but its not quite doing it, all black is kinda unflattering

Yep damn nice

So where in the world can you get a Fuji one of these?

And I suppose as the pound is so carp on the markets it would be just as expensive in Asia as the Voigt is here?

Totally agree!

I got to use one of those mf rf mamiyas once, I REALLY! enjoyed the way it worked actually, useful as it means you lug *slightly* less weight around with you

still, at that price I would be buying alot of things :D...

also I read somewhere that a silver (with some black trimmings) version of the voigtlander will get released as well with time....

Hmmmm. tasty.

There are older and cheaper models though.

Voigtlander bessa I & II and Agfa Isolette spring to mind, but Im sure there are others.

Ok, they have no metering and no coupled rangefinder but for pocketable 6x9 or smaller solution for £50 ish???????

It's a bit rich price wise for me. Size wise its basically the same as a Mamiya 6 or 7 and they have interchangeable lenses. If they releases a WA version it might be a bit more apealing but £1900 for a normal view 6x7 negative is fairly unapealling. Plus for that I could almost get a brand new Chamonix 8x10, which is much prettier but a lot heavier :P

good point! -its not too hard to get a meter and even a hot-shoe rf with the change!

or if you have enough for one of these new voigtlander mf's, you could get around 50 of the old bessa 1s&2s (@ £40 each) and sell them on for £60! thats £1000 profit!

*drools*

hmmmmmmmmmm, chamonix 8x10

I know,

I have to try and restrict how often I go on their site just in case I do something very (!) silly. There's always the 20x24 as well if you get really flush:thumbs:

 may be able to get a Agfa Isolette for £50

However just went looking for Voigtlander folders the Bessa I & II, the I you can pick up for sub £100 BUT the Bessa II with105 lens your looking at the best part of £300 - £500 .

No idea why they are that price but certainly they are wanted. But silver lining they are less money than the Bessa III above

Ooooh looks lovely! So it does 6x6 and 6x7, cool! Not too big or heavy either, maybe worth getting rid of my beastly RB67 for one of these??? But a lot of money though, ouch! And is it fixed lens or removable?

It's a beautiful camera, but I think a used Mamiya 7 is a much better deal. I have one and it's amazing.
