Just started using my newly built (by me) computer and have installed something new to me - vista.

Didn't take long for it to start annoying me. Now have to dismantle some of my new set-up in order to get the old computer working again.

Before switching over I cleverly ran the transfer wizard on XP so I would have all my email accounts, rules and folders available to import. Now I come to do it I find Vista can't read XP transfer wizard files! Apparently I have to run the Vista wizard on the XP machine using the Vista install DVD to get a file vista *can* read.

Grrr :bang::bang:

were you expecting anything else from MS Vista?

I refuse to switch my machines over to it, when it is time to retire them......i'm going mac.

hmmmm thats a bummer!

Kinda makes sense to me - the new OS gathers data from the old one :shrug:

Why exactly is it annoying you?

I have been running it for over a tear on my primary machine and have had no problems.

I've also installed ait into many of my clients existing networks, again with no problems.

If you need help ask here I'm sure some of us can help.

Re the transfer Wizard, just export your email accounts and save them to usb memory import into new machine job done.

If it's outlook rater than OE just copy over a back up(pst) file.

I wanted all the rules and folder structures importing as well as the accounts so ran the vista wizard this morning. By default it would have copied loads of stuff I didn't need copying but I got it to do what I needed.

What's annoying? main thing is learning the way it works. Like 'owners' of files copied from elsewhere on my network needing changing, Show hidden files shows me shortcuts that are not really shortcuts and can't be viewed in explorer, Software I want to install that windows alerts me is 'incompatible' .... and so it goes on :)
