Hi all

I'm spending 2 days 1 night this coming week in North Wales (Llanberis, to be exact), and I'm curious if anyone has recommendations of where to go/places to visit with my camera. I've never actually stayed in Wales before, save for a few drunken nights at my friends in Bangor, so I'm a bit lost as to what I should do.

Also, gear. I'm tempted to just bring all my kit (7D, 17-55mm, 30mm, 70-200mm) along with my tripod and flash, as space isn't really an issue. I'm even tempted to rent the 10-22mm for it...opinions on this idea?

All help would be top :)

great place to visit. there is the little hill next to Llanberis ( snowden), the mine museum is good for old arty shots, the lakeside train. there is a lagoon near the museum surrounded by slate walls the water there is a fantastic colour. lots of underground stuff, but with all that natural beauty outside i would stay on top, unless it is raining hard.

Ogwen valley is a great place for lots of things in a small area.
If you like to get up high you can do Tryfen, the Glyderau, the Carneddau.

If you like to walk but not too much then there is Llyn Idwel. Nice little walk on a good path to some stunning scenery.

If you just like to potter around there are lakes, waterfalls and beautiful colours at low level.

Can easily spend a whole day there.

Some great suggestions above.

(Minor point but the correct names are "SnowdOn", "TryfAn" and "IdwAl".)

I like the area around Betws-y-Coed, there's some good waterfalls and a rocky gorge (fairy glen?) close by.

You're spoilt for choice - feel free to have a look at my website which might give you a few ideas, I also have a few free articles I wrote just for this purpose on my Facebook page in the "Notes" section

Excellent, thanks for the tips all.

Simon, some of those views look absolutely stunning....looks like I chose a good place to get away from everything! Hopefully the weather will be decent. Forecasts seem to predict cloudy and cold but generally dry...could be worse!

Ordered the EF-S 10-22mm from Lenses for Hire too...I should have it tomorrow to play with!

England  :suspect:

What do you like shooting? Take a look in the landscapes section, it won't take you long to find out what's nearby - it's already been done to death!

Make sure you go to the quarry, other side of the lake from Snowdon, Dinorwic Quarry, its amazing place to wonder around. If your in a car park at the top rather than the bottom as that is where the best parts are, even then you got a bit of walking ahead of you :)

Stayed in talybont which is about an hr away! If your into sunsets then get down to the beach there pretty amazing! If you take the little train in llanberis there's a stop off where you can get off and walk up a path to cafe at the top here there is a pretty good view of snowdon! If your up for a drive aberdifi is nice! Really nice coastal rd!!
