Visiting Thailand

Im visiting Thailand for 5 days and taking my travel camera Panasonic LX100 MK1. Its a great camera for city breaks and travel and can do most things a full size DSLR can.
I have a few images in my head already and will involve night time and panning. Specifically, mopeds, bicycles and traffic panning with bright backgrounds, and ideally its been raining.
I know its a long shot but if all the elements come together, will I nail the shot?
My only concern is, will the little Panasonic be up to the job?

The thing that went through my mind first is that you should practice in the UK and look at the results before deciding what to take. I assume the issue will be ISO performance so why not just take a look and see what the results could look like and if you'll be happy.

The first time I want to Thailand I took my Panasonic GX7. Other times I've taken my Sony A7 and Panasonic TZ100 which has a 1" sensor and they've all coped well enough but the key is that I don't take many night time shots whilst this is one of the things you want to do.

BTW. One of my favourite places is Khao Chi Chan. It's also maybe one of the most humid places I've ever been and my GX7 produced a series of slightly oof or misty pictures there. It never did that before or after so I assume something just misted up, My A7 coped with no problem at the same place.

Have a great time. I don't see how you can fail to but I think one big problem with Thailand is deciding where to go.

Only going for 5 days with some lads for a 50th. Postponed from covid days. 2 days in Bangkok and 3 days in Pataya. I’m not interested in experiencing the seedy side of things but I really want to capture it in photographs .

My reply wasn't meant to imply enjoyment of anything seedy. What I meant was I can't see how you can fail to enjoy yourself as there's so many places to go to and see and enjoy. I'm not interested in experiencing or photographing anything seedy. IMO that would be exploitative and Thai's generally don't like foreigners bahaving in ways they'd see as dishonest, illegal or disrespectful.

I'd still recomment trying the kit out at home as low light is low light no matter where you are but it does get dark in Thailand before it does here at this time of year so that's something to keep in mind.

I hope you enjoy the culture, the sights, the weather and the food and the many friendly people you'll meet in the land of smiles

I don't know if A19 traffic may be a little fast? I think I'd try and replicate the shots you want as closely as possible but then again I suppose all you really need to know is the shutter speed and ISO and from that you can judge the image quality. I think it gets dark around 6pm there. I loved the little coffee places and restraints, you can eat at a different place 3 times a day.

I'm sure you'll love Thailand and think that 5 days is nowhere near enough although to be honest the last time we went I thought the heat and humidity was going to kill me
