Visiting London! need some advice

Hello friends!

I will be visiting London in from the 11 to the 18 of november, I don't know yet, how is the travel plans, but I will be there. From Mexico to London. :D

This will be my second time there.

I will be visiting the McLaren Techonology Center, I think there is a visit to Brands Hatch too. But I don't know the days of that yet but those things are two days i think.

The rest days, I think I will be as a tourist in the city, so please what do you recommend me, which is the best places to visit, any tour you recommend me, or any place not for turists that may be will be intresting for me. Well, you know London better than me, that's for sure.

All the advice could be great.

ANOTHER THING.

I will be traveling with my camera, some lenses, and my laptop. Do you think there will be any trouble in the airplane? May be a little tripod for night shots or a monopod.

Absolutely spot on...Great mini-guide to London.
A day in Greenwich is a must, Naval collage, Meridian Line, etc, plus under the Greenwich foot-tunnel and a walk through the Isle of Dogs to Canary Wharf !!
The design museum on the South Bank is always worth a visit as well.

The Tube's one of the best ways to travel around, just remember, the tube map has nothing to do with the stations position in relation to each other....so it might look close, but actually its an hour away. You can easily change from the tube to main line or even busses if you buy the correct ticket type.
London is huge, about 450 sq Kilometres...most of the attractions occupy about half of that area (the inner half)...so be prepared to travel a lot.

I have no idea about your luggage...I'd speak to whoever’s flying you and explain your problem....see what they say.

Give us a shout when you get hear, any excuse to take some shots…. I'll come down and find a Mexican Coffee house for you, make you feel at home. lol. :thumbs:
 
Definately get yourself on the London Eye! A fantastic half hour and worth every penny of however much they're charging now.

Borough Market in SE1 is worth a visit on Fridays or Saturdays - a fantastic food market with all sorts of small-scale producers.

If you're wanting night shots then some of the best views of the City of London and city of Westminster can be had from the various Thames bridges - the one I posted in sharing under the totle "London Lights" a few weeks back was taken from the Jubilee bridge near Embankment tube. Tower bridge is a spectacle all of its own when lit up at night and would be worth a visit.

Most of all though, whatever you do - enjoy!
 
At the moment the weather is bright sunshine (and continuing for the next week, though there is a bit of cloud around) but around 50° and with a wind chill on top of that.

If you have the time I recommend just randomly travelling around by bus, the service is excellent and cheap so long as you do not pay cash, and you get to see so much. Any photographic opportunities come up you can get off. If you are do not have a travelcard or Oyster card on the day then you can buy an all day bus ticket for £3.50 from tube stations or any shop that sells tickets (they will have a Travelstop sign in the window).

If you are interested in architecture the city is an fascinating place from all the classical Georgian stone buildings to the modern Lloyd's building (which is inside-out with all the ducts and staircases etc. outside the building) and Swiss Re building (the icon gherkin). It is also the area on the north end of London Bridge, which gives fantastic views to Tower Bridge (the next one down river) with the new financial district in the Docklands as a backdrop.

It is also all with walking distance to Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, and HMS Belfast, a former WWII naval ship that is now permanently docked as a museum. Or you could go the other way to St Paul's Cathedral, and then cross the Thames on the new Millennium Bridge foot bridge (which seems a favourite of photographers) to visit Tate Modern housed in the former Bankside Power Station on the south bank of the Thames.

And all that is just on one large scale double page of the London A-Z!

I was in London yesterday, and went on a Thames Boat Cruise. You can book this through the london Eye. I went on the cruise at 4:45 and the sights were fantastic, the whole of london was lit up.

Highly recommended...... forgot to mention, wish I had taken my camera :(
 
That Thames Cruise I think it's a must. I just see the other day all about them in the London Eye page.
 
I think the Cutty Sark at Greenwhich may be shut there was a mention on the news the other day that it will be lifted from it's dry dock for a refurbishment to wood in the hull that is rotting due to the salt .
On the 18th at Brands Hatch is the Britcar race which ends early eavening but in the dark. Cold but worth it.

I arrive on sunday 12 to London at midday, it's supposed that in Monday I have a visit to McLaren Technology Centre, and on tuesday I have an event on Brands Hatch. That's all I know so far, then I have two more days for traveling and visiting some things.

I allready know London, I been there a few years ago, that's why I want to choose very well what to see and visit, because on thursday I have to take a flight to Paris. My trip there is shorter than I expected. But it worth it.
