Yes
I hope that this may be of some help to all you fellow TP members. I recieved an email this morning SEEMINGLY from DHL (The parcel carriers) The message was an apology for not being able to deliver a parcel (In FEBRUARY) because of incorrect address details, the message provided a link to print out a copy of the invoice and to make arrangements to collect the parcel from their depot. This link includes a VIRUS and luckily my security picked it up. It is possible that some people may not have the necessary protection so whatever you do DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK. If you are waiting for a parcel to be delivered make a phone call first just to be on the safe side. Hope this post will save some heartache.

Yeah, these are common.

I get half a dozen of these "You've missed a parcel" emails from DHL, Parcel Farce, etc. every week. They just get deleted right away if they make it past the spam filter.

See, the thing is, when people ship stuff to you, it's via your address and possibly the shipping company may require a phone number (FedEx and some others do). Your email address doesn't enter into it. Either they'll slip a note through the door, call you or return it to sender.

Your first clue... If, as this email claims, this is a case of "incorrect address labels", how the hell did they manage to find a working email address and not a valid mailing address? :)

There are some scams that are clever. There are some that are sophisticated. Then there are the courier company scams which I can't imagine will fool anyone.

The following modified computer boot up sequence will greatly enhance your anti-virus/trojan/scam measures:

1. Engage Brain

2. Switch on Computer

3. Keep brain engaged.

and all will be well

I've had plenty of these.

The fact is, if you are not expecting an email, then you need to be suspicious

latest one purports to be from inland revenue telling you that a tax refund is due - click here to file your claim!

site was down but no doubt wanted your bank details so they could make the payment!!!

just hover over the link and check in you email client where it wants to take you and the scam will be obvious!

erm reading about scams etc and I don't get any using Kaspersky......am I just lucky or are you guys with problems using other programs.

I use Kaspersky too and i get scam emails through but it automatically cleanses anything bad in it, i had the DHL trojan today and Kasp cleansed it and flagged it up as having contained a trojan so i could delete it without even opening it.

I had one of these from UPS, but to show the stupidity of the program sending the emails, it claimed that 'my package, sent on 25th December' could not be delivered. And who exactly would have come to collect that then????

depends on whether your AV package has built in phishing checks.. more than likely not id say but most will check your attachments.

I also use Mozilla Thunderbird, maybe that helps as well............................

I have had a few of these over the last couple of weeks and relaised they must be a scam, from UPS and DHL.

alarm bells starting ringing when the attachment was a zip file (why would a courier send a zip file?)

scum scammers
