FWIW
I use PAYG SIM but if I was on contract and received what you describe I would be very suspicious of it being some sort of scam e.g. someone is trying to takeover your phone number.
I would treat it like 'the bank ringing you' i.e. don't respond to the email but contact them by an alternate email and/or phone them to discuss it.
I seem to recall we got new ones without asking, from memory it was something to do with 5g rollout where the old sim did not work.
Well every day can be a school day........my initial thought was that by some method (?) someone had criminally requested the SIM but it would be going to a different address. My wife was with Virgin and she got a new SIM without asking. A system upgrade or some such thing. Give them a call if you are concerned.
I just got an email off Virgin mobile saying my new sim card is being sent out, I have not asked for a new one at all so has this happened to anyone else ?
Are you contract or pay as you go?
Do VM still use Indian call centres? That was the main reason I told them to do one about 4 and half years ago, don't get me wrong I'm not racist, I just don't have the patience to deal with call centres who don't understand an old school Yorkshire accent.
All sorted out, gave them a call and it was a sim card for my old IPhone 11 that I don't use anymore for 5G. So they have stopped it.
The iPhone 11 isn’t a 5G phone.
Yes they do and a lot of them speak better English than I do. I'm not racist either.Do VM still use Indian call centres? I can just about cope with Sky (I am strongly considering moving to them for Fibre and Landline soon, Plusnet are being annoying)I have to say I too struggle with the Asian based call centers sometimes,
and those in Scotland, that have a "Hard" accent. ( Glaswegian I think it is)
