Virgin Media Increasing Bills!

Virgin doubled my internet speed for free to 60Mb/s, then gave me a new customer deal (which I shouldn't get as I was a current customer) which upgraded my box to TIVO, I can record even more channels at the same time now and I got more channels unlocked, have phone and free international calls to selected countries and my monthly bill dropped from about £80 pm to £53 pm.

I can't really complain if they put the price up a few quid! lol

Wight Fibre, only available down here, which is good as its all local, including customer service! Just a shame I can't use them at my other place :(

They were doubling everyone's speed for free at the same time, but with regard to the other stuff my internet went down for the first time and it was a 3 day downtime prediction so I called up none too happy and was offered all that as a way of apology as well as 1/2 month free bill. Turned out only to be down for about 12 hours but a result I guess.
 
I've changed to BT from Talk Talk earlier this year because TT were capping my download use to 4Gb a month and I can sometimes double that in a day. Set up with BT totally painless and the download speed was ballistic compared. From 3.5Kbps on TT to 30Mbps with BT, then a couple of months later BT emailed to say they would double the speed if we renewed to a 1 year contract. Last time I checked I was getting DL speed of 79Mbps and the price stayed the same. Totally excellent for me, can't find a fault at all.

I have found the service with BT to be very good, just when dealing with customer services or faults i need to be kept away from sharp objects for a few hours. Truly the most incompetent company in its dealing with its customers.

Wait until you need to call customer services and ask or expect them to do anything.

Buy some Asprin, you will be banging your head against the wall!

The dramatic contrast in bandwidth you show is down to moving from one technology to another. Rather than from one particular ISP to another.

So you're being rather unfair on Talk Talk. Jeeeeez, I never thought I'd ever say that :bang:
 
I don't have a TV package so it's all about broadband for me
BT, well they've come a long way but basically they're been historically behind VM/diamond cable/NTL
they're getting up to speed, just in time for VM to double all their bandwidths

the worst company I've had for internet was Sky broardband. if you're sold it for anything demanding like gaming....then you've been mis-sold!

Nope, that doesn't compute.

The single most useless company in existence. We had TT at work, they managed to screw around with the static ip we had. They deleted it, or something like that, no emails for 2 days before we got a workaround sorted. We now have two adsl lines, neither are with TT.

One thing puzzling me, Virgin media blaming BT for phone line issues, I thought if you was with Virgin you was on their cable system and that's separate from BT's network?

Probably when you call someone who is with BT, must crossover at the exchange or something?

Virgin do adsl over a normal landline too.

Even my poxy 2mb can cope with gaming.

Virgin however are renowned for bad gaming experience..

I'll await the letter then. I've been with Virgin for 10 months and their service has been excellent. I've got unlimited anytime calls, XL TV package, TiVo and 60meg BB for £45 per month. I can't really complain at that as its only about £3 per month than I was paying with BT just for phone and BB.

And...got the email. It's going up by £5.43 per month from Feb..
 
Just got my email today, £2.84 a month it's going up by....I've only been with them a few months, which is a pain in the rear. If I have to stick to the contract within the minimum term, they should too
 
I don't really see the point in complaining about price rises. It's a free world... Vote with your feet! Let's face it most of what VM supply is a luxury....most people don't "need"super fast broadband or cable TV and I'd argue for most people a mobile phone is more essential than a land line now.

I have VM and like it because it's been very reliable and also if there's a problem they can't blame it on someone else. Having had those issues in the past where an ISP blames BT an vice versa I am not going back there!

I also just reduced my VM bill by £30 a month simply by keeping the same services I have had for three years which are now out of date and now entry level rather than top of the range.
