Is anyone going to be shooting the marathon this Sunday? If so look out for no. 5221 and shout some encouraging words my way! I'm going to need them!

good luck!
I'll be at mile 22 taking photos all day, so will holler encouragement if I see you

i'll be under cleopatra's needle at the 25 mile mark taking pics for the alzheimer's society. If anyone sees a tired looking individual sporting a d700 and (most likely) 70-200 feel free to come and say hello! I anticipate lots of rain :(

enjoy Rowan! I'll be thinking of you 3 miles up the road!
have got plenty of snacks, water and waterproof stuff at the ready...

d700 + 70-200 here too... will have the 24-70, but can't think it'll be getting much use.

aye, i'm taking the 24-70 along as well as i've been briefed to get some wide shots as well. Plus there's some kind of post race reception that i have to go to to get shots of the runners with their medals and candid shots etc. So i think i need to take a flash and my 50 or 85 as well...

out of interest what sort of bag are you taking? I'm thinking that with the amount of gear i'm taking i'll need to take my roller bag...I can't imagine wanting to have my shoulder bag on all day!

btw leslie - if i happen to see you i'll take a few shots! What sort of time do you anticipate getting to 25miles?

ahh yeah, there's a couple of us shooting for Mind and the other guy has the brief to go to the reception, spending just a couple of hours on the track, so i don't have to worry about that!

bagwise, i've got a Lowepro 200aw vertex... bit of a beast, but the only thing which will carry my kit and supplies! anticipate sticking it on the floor where I'll be stood and attaching it to the fence, so it's not easy to pick up and walk off with.

i've a Black Rapid double strap, but i think i'll probably end up just slinging the 70-200 over my shoulder and keeping the 24-70 in the bag, bringing it out on occasion for a few different shots, ones of the spotters/supporters for example.

All being good i'm hoping to be at the 22 mile point at around 12:45 and mile 25 at the back of 1. I'll look out for you guys but after 3 hours of running it'll be tough!

will be out and about taking pics between deptford high street and surrey quays.... about 5 mins jog after the cutty sark somewhere where i can snap away without hinderance hopefully... are you dressing up in a easily recognisable costume to be easily recognised???

Unfortunately no costume. I am wearing a fairly bright yellow running vest though! Although 20,000 other runners will probably be wearing the same...

well that didn't go as predicted! ended up using the 24-70 nearly the whole time as was able to get 'trackside' without any obstruction. plus the Sigma 70-200 (as great as it is for any other assignment) just couldn't AF quickly enough... whereas the Nikon 24-70 could.

so now does that mean I'll need to upgrade to a Nikon 70-200?! :D

Anyhoo, well done to everyone who ran, what a day and what an acheivement.
Picked out 30 of my fave pics from the day for my website:

Nice selection

Amazing what some of these runners put themselves through ... a tiger on his back!

Brilliant shots!

Bringing back lots of memories already. Love the two shots of the woman getting a kiss from her kid. Love seeing that!

The shot of the wheelchair athlete is actually David Weir the GB athlete who went on to win on Sunday.

ahh thank you for recognising him! I should have checked the race number on the website :) I'll edit the description then

It was such an amazing experience and a lovely day... well done again to all involved!
