Virgin Broadband? inspired by Galaxy66!

I'm with them for broadband.
Reliable as hell. Never let me down yet (I'm sure I'll regret saying that!!!)

Mine comes stright into my room from outside, via a little box on the wall.
Not sure what speed I'm getting, but I think I'm on the 2mb also.

I called them recently about an upgrade.
And they wouldn't do it :razz:

Gave me the crapiest excuse ever.
Because we have the whole package (TV, phone and broadband) they cannot upgrade me for free.
I'd have to give up my large TV package to basic (freeview) and then I can have free 10Mb............

We're with Virgin and have 20mbit broadband and the V+ box. Can't fault the service at all.
 
10mbit broadband only no tv carp

I have got my phone, broadband and now the tv with them. I would have preferred not to have had cable tv, but I could only pick up 3 chanels at a time here, and I could guarantee if I wanted to watch the box it would have been on a non working channel.
It works out a lot cheaper than BT did and other than one blip with the broadband the service has been fine.
 
I used to be with Virgin but wouldn't go back to them if you paid me!

Their email was always having problems, their internet speed rarely was anything like the 20mb service I was paying for, their customer service was crap.

When some yobs damaged our local area roadside box, I was offered a pathetic credit for virtually no services for nearly 3 weeks.

When I rang to cancel I was offered nearly 50% discount on my monthly fees for telephone/tv/internet. Still said no.

I regularly get letters offering me all sorts of special deals to come back!
 
I have the full pack with Virgin media with the 20mb broad band we moved over from sky because with my land line i could only have up to 3mb. I have about 3 months left of the contract and am thing of leaving the 20mb broadband does not seem to get out of single figures the norm is about 8mb spoke to virgin staff and this seems to be very common so i don't know how they get away with it also the picture quality is not as good as sky. And also customer service is crap.
 
I just tested my Virgin connection and got 18788 which is pretty good at this time of day. I see they're offering a 50mb connection soon, but I can't see it being a free upgrade for me somehow. :baby:

just tested mine on speed test its 9090 now to me that is crap as i am paying for 20mb, i did see the price for the 50mb can not remember what it was but it was dear.
 


I think a lot depends on where you are and demand at any one time. I was only getting 16 kb late last night when you'd think there'd be less traffic.

Using that speed test site i normally hit 18000+

Customer service center is a pain in the arse, i prefer sky HD over virgins offerings, lost broadband once in the last 7 years
 
I would - give 'em a ring. Truthfully, 20mbits is wasted on me as I don't do that much downloading. When I do it's great when the download site supports the speed, but there's still a lot that don't, and I can't see many supporting 50 mbits when it comes.
