Vinyl Backdrops

Looking at getting a white vinyl backdrop. Any suggestions on the best suppliers for both quality and cost?

I got mine from Tony Beal, a company that does curtains for trucks.

Its actually PVC but perfect for the job, just tell them your a photographer looking for studio backgrounds and they'll know what your on about.

Think it was about £80 all in for 6m x 2.75m (I think)

Is there a slight weave to the vinyl that you use?

I have a few samples here from different companies with wildly varying prices (none as dear as anything branded for photography though lol) for what seems to be the same sort of material.

I done think the weave would be a problem if your blowing out the background but my samples are only a few inches square, would be good to know how it looks in practice.

just ordered 1 of each of bessel. £150 delivered for 2x6m saves me ironing my muslin sheets everytime, Vinyl is supplied on an aluminium tube to keep it crease free and ready to use.

I've just taken delivery of a paper roll. will see how i go, took Garrys advise on the paper I just hope it doesnt get worn out too quickly as some of my subjects will be kids (family members and friends kids).

I got a vinyl from www.studiokitdirect.co.uk and they offer good service but have just moved to paper and now regret it.

Vinyl is a little cushioned for my concrete floor and feels safer with kids

Another good search is of pool/sandpit/outdoor stuff cover manufacturers. I got my 3m x 6m long roll from a place called Seal Seam http://www.seal-seam.co.uk/ who operate from a farm near Thame in Oxon for £70. Perfect (although I did have to cut the width down to 2.7m to get it in my vehicle)

Hi Chris,

What are you using for support - what backdrop stands ? What make etc. I am considering getting a set up and am looking around for suitable equipment to buy, new or used. Also do you have anything else, umbrellas, other lighting units ?

Hope you don't mind me jumping in to this thread?
