Vintage cycling event London.

Should be good, but WOW at £39/ticket starting price.

I won the De Laune club junior track championship there in 1977, although it wasn't tremendously heavily competed. Still have the medal too. :)

Bear in mind that the Herne Hill Velodrome has a strict 'No Photography' policy.

Apart from the fact that I live a couple of hundred yards round the corner and also that it's British Cycling's policy as well?

There's a socking great big sign at the entrance.

The original post that I saw didn't mention the ticket price. I don't know the venue or anything about British Cycling so had no idea about the no photography policy.

I would have thought at an event such as this photography would be positively encouraged, at least by those with period cameras ;)

A couple of thousand policy violations here: https://www.flickr.com/groups/hernehillvelodrome/pool/

Well in any event you go to, all you have to know is:- Is there security problem and what are the chances of being caught using a camera and if so, what is the penalty.
It can be amusing as not far me they had a large enclosed fenced area, in a field, and were filming, I was on a public footpath and had a guy follow me in a car to check that I didn't stray from it, but it didn't stop me taking shots elsewhere (the fence was so high you couldn't see anything that they were filming anyway) and when I was going through the gate to the public road another security person tried to give me a lecture on privacy etc....of course I gave her a mouthful on the rights of a photographer on public rights of way also I wasn't actually taking shots of someone undressing in their bedroom

I suspect the organisers will be very keen to have a pro-photography policy - I think they would fully expect and hope to see images of the event all over Instagram and Twitter.

I was on Formby beach last year and about 1/4 mile away they were filming scenes for Peaky Blinders. I took a couple of shots with my Voigtlander R4A with the 90mm lens on, so tiny dots in the distance, when a young police officer approached me and told me to stop, I of course took some more shots. He insisted that it was private and that I couldn't shoot there, I insisted that I could, Mrs Snap insisted that I stopped being an awkward sod and dragged me away before he arrested me. I am far more scared of Mrs Snap than the police so I walked away... :D

There is a letter that you can show a policeman (if stopped) which explains your rights (I've got it somewhere on my hard drive)...but with the terrorism threat a copper could probably ignore it and give a security reason to arrest you.

Awesome :) This could be an excuse to dig out both my 1930's Rolleiflex and my 1940's Raleigh Record Ace

I'm fairly confident I can get people free tickets for this, PM me if you're interested and are fairly certain you'll attend.
