Hi all,

Just picked up my Grandads old Minolta XG-M (think its in working order).

And... a Braun Paxette IL (This or very close to it)
It clearly been mid repair and not used fixed, (some bits in a bag). Does anyone have experience getting a camera of this age fixed?
I'm tempted to try myself but can imagine I will not have the knowledge... (Based in the north if anyone has a recommendation).

Sounds promising. I will get some pictures sent over to him tomorrow.

Noticed the XG-M film advance lever wasnt working last night aswell... but I feel more confident trying to fix that than the older one.

I understand the Minolta has sentimental value but does the Paxette? The only reason I ask is that a repair of something like a Paxette is very rarely economic.

Very true Nick!

To be fair to Miles, he doesn't take the p*ss......Occasionally I've requested a repair and, although he has never refused ( naturally it's an income to him!) he has recommended not to bother simply because the cost involved outweighed the financial outlay of buying a replacement camera.

Sentimental value is a different matter....no one can put a price on that!

I think I introduced Miles to the site in 2009,I have used his services on many occasions,he is a wonderful man to do business with and provides excellent service. This is sometimes longer for us amateurs if he has a long order book for his pro companies, but, well worth the wait.

Highly recommended.

To be honest both do, however if the cost is un-economical then the Paxette may just become an ornament/memento. I think the Minolta will get used alot more which is always a benefit!

All just to let you know I got the Minolta XG-M working nicely and i'm having fun learning film! I'm leaving the Pauxette for now, I dont think I would use it if I fixed it so its now a collectible.

Was also given a Nikon L35 at the weekend and that really is a nice camera (1984).

Very good lens on the L35 for sharpness (I had the L35AD).
