Ok so im midway through reading Light - Science and Magic and have to say its so far great. I am looking for a semi portable setup for portraits, glamour and the like in terms of lighting. Most of my shooting so far has been with natural light and the occasional speedlight.

Have any of you used this before and if so, what are your views? http://www.lencarta.com/lighting-st...ads-1/twin-head-mains-powered-starter-kit-504

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

A few years ago I had 2 sets on Lencarta's, a 2 head and a 3 head kit. I found them to be very reliable and plenty of bank for the buck.

Hope this has been of some help.

That is indeed very helpful. I completely accept that these wont last forever, indeed they are only as a tester really to see if they will actually improve on what I want to do (which I very much think they will) before investing in some serious kit when I eventually open the studio... Wishful thinking! lol

Thanks Ian.

Nothing lasts for ever, but there's no reason to think that they won't last for a very long time.
And, as they take the almost standard S-fit light shapers, and will work seamlessly with all other studio lighting and even hotshoe flashes, the risk is only about this big:lol:

Ha! Well you would say that Gary ;) Come on now, give it to me straight, if you had a relatively modest budget, what would you go for out of the Lencarta range?

Lencarta is professional grade kit. In terms of reliable performance, it compares to Bowens and Elinchrom.

A piece of card with a bit of gaffer tape is also 'pro kit'. The term gets banded around too often imo :p

But yes, it's reliable equipment by all accounts... :)
