Hi

Any comments good or bad on this lens? I'm looking for a macro lens (don't want to spend too much).

Is a good close up lens?

I don't have any experience of this actual lens but its not a true macro (1:1) its only 1:2.3 but i do have the 24-70mm which is even less of a true macro at 1.38 but its very sharp and a very versatile lens.

Must admit I've not used the "macro" but use it for landscapes, find it an excellent lens..has proven a very popular kit lens replacement for many people...sure you'll get some more useful feedback than mine soon !!

I have this lens and love it.
Bought it to replace the Sony kit lens, and it sits on the camera most of the time. Build quality is very good, and the AF is very quick.
It's an ideal replacement for the kit lens and is less than half the cost of the CZ alternative for my camera.

Bought it for my first lens on my 30D, love it :)
